Default WTB: OEM front shocks

I need 2 front shocks. Both of mine are blown due to me wanting to save $150 to install lowering springs and having my friend do it. Both shocks leaked a good amoun of oil and now the car rides like crap!

I'd go with coilovers, but I can't go lower than I ammo due to 3 speedbumps in my neighborhood that I already scrape my exhaust on

Front shocks are $140/per through Nissan.

you don't HAVE to go lower than you are already with coilovers, if thats what's holding you back. If you like you're ride height now, then you can keep that same height. even raise it a tad from the HR height

I know what you mean, but I don't see the need to spend roughly $1000 on coilovers to adjust my ride height by .5"

How did your friend doing it ruin the shocks? Just curious.

He was trying to break the bolt on the top of the shock assembly loose. The whole time the piston was spinning. He forgot to hold the piston in place, which broke the seal and it started leaking oil. It only happened on the first shock (my front right), but it seems that my front left shock is the one that is blown. I just want to replace both to be safe.

well, coilovers aren't ONLY for a drop. they improve handling and are what lowering springs are supposed to do. They are matched springs and dampers with adjustable ride height. so instead of annihilating your OEM shocks (which you're gonna need to replace in 20k) with springs, you can cut your losses now and get 4 new dampers (which would be in your set of coilovers) and dial in your ride height and damper settings to how you want them.

I know it's not ONLY for a drop. I had Tein springs on my G35 for 70k miles and the shocks were fine. Granted, they weren't as aggressive as my H&R springs are...I just don't want to deal with the hassle of gettin my ride height dialed in and then getting the car corner balanced. Plus, I'd be tempted to go lower. I already scrape my exhaust on the 3 speed bumps in my neighborhood as is. Call me cheap, but I'm just going to stick with springs for now.

not cheap at all, if i wasn't so picky about my ride height i'd consider springs, but i'd rather get 1 install done, then have to replace dampers at some point etc. i'll keep an eye open for anyone selling stock dampers though. good luck

Appreciate it, Jeff! If I didn't have to go over 3 speed bumps everyday to get to my house...I'd definitely do coilovers. I do like all the pros of coilovers. I just hate the cons o speedbumps, haha.

yea, the funny part is, speed bumps don't really slow down the crazy soccer mom suv drivers, which are the ones always in a rush in local areas.
