Quetions to ask a tuner
When a customer contacts a Tuning company about having their car done,
what are some of the most pertinent questions that the customer should ask of the Tuner? I will be adding an SC and will need to have a tune done , but I have no knowledge as to what to look for in what the co. offers or what to ask. I'm want a daily driver and will do some track time. Not necessarily wanting max HP, but still want to know that my investment went to good use. |

Keep in mind that the base tune from GTM will be sufficient to drive pretty much anywhere for the tune. Just don't go nuts. GTM's base maps leave a lot to be desired, but they're usually pretty safe.
Other items to ask about: Fan duty cycle Throttle re-mapping (Take the most current map from the big thread here) Speed limiter removal

Thanks, That's kinda what I am looking for. (General tuning questions that is.)
I'm not sure I can get the tuning download from GTM. I just purchased this SC kit through Vivid racing. I've sent my ECU info etc. to GTM but have not received a reply as of this time. So I may have to start fresh with a Tuner. |

Have you tried to call GTM? While it's the longest of long shots, maybe you'll get lucky. Otherwise you have to have someone email you a base map to drive the car to the tuner. If your tuner doesn't have a lot of boosted Zs under his belt he may not have one handy and you'd end up trailering the car to him.

I would look into EcuTek - actually having real ignition control when going boosted is important !!

Do you have the ability for map switching with Ecutek yet? What about end user tuning? |
