Uprev question - Not asked before
1 Attachment(s)
I have an uprev tune on my car. I have been using my friends cable to datalog some things. When I went into the system a little deeper its offering an update. I am curious if I update my rom if this is my friends ECU number or if this is a legit update I should do. I dont want to do anything that will erase my friends infomation. I am able to go into the rom editor and everything so it would appear im able to tune the car with just the lisence and his cable or am I missing something?? You can see the difference in the rom numbers. Any help is appreciated.

I just stumbled on that last night but had not time to look at it.

I believe that I found my own answer. I looked deeper into the forum and actually typed in these codes.
http://www.the370z.com/tuning/84786-...ference-4.html Shows the same code numbers |
if you do the update you will wipe out your settings in your tune so it will be a stock rom at the new revision instead of your custom rom at the old revision.

What does the revision do? is the upgrade worth doing and getting retuned?
|
It doesn't "do" anything. Its just a newer version of the firmware that updates that specific ECU. If you look on the Uprev rom support matrix you will see a bunch of different ECU #'s listed, with an "uprev master rom" next to them. The master rom is the most recent, up to date version that overwrites all the other roms listed next to it. As Uprev's engineers come across the various ECU versions they check them all for compatibility and assign the master rom, which we use to tune with. There is no reason to update to the new rom if you've already been tuned, but on a fresh tune you would want to use the "update" listed.

If you want to know exactly what was changed between revisions or why, you'll have to ask Nissan. The information might be explained in a TSB somewhere, but good luck linking a specific ECM update to a specific TSB. |
Thanks for the information. I had my tuner update and send me the tune again. No big deal.
