8000rpm ?

There seem quite a few people running 8000rpm rev limit, and the curve looks great to me..

Just wondering how reliable it is to run 8000rpm with stock valve train?

anyone track their cars with 8krpm ?

There are a few people who have blown their motor running 8K. The stock oil pump can't handle the stress. You can upgrade to the Nismo oil pump if you really need to run 8K.

I can say this from experience, I set my fuel and throttle cut to 7800 and I watched it bounce off of 8K on a quick run. If the engine can overrun like that, then I can only imagine that setting it to 8K would put the overrun at a dangerous level.

ouch. 7500rpm for me then.. haha

You can run and make power at 8,000 rpm. But not for long. As mention, the stock oil pump is the weak link. I've bounced mine off of 8,000 a few times doing trackdays. Waiting for it to go BOOM one of these days doing that.

If it does go BOOM! Think I might dry sump it. :D

You need this to be safe .....

Nismo Oil Pump VQ35HR / VQ37VHR

The alternative is this:

http://www.daileyengineering.com/vq-37.htm

and then you can use this ....

http://www.jimwolftechnology.com/news.asp (look down for story on "JWT / Nissan VQ Grand Am / World Challenge Cam & Piston Package")

Shortly afterwards, you'll be divorced !!!!

Dry sump here and while I can run 8000+ its soooooo lazy up there. Torque really falls off past 7200 on the factory setup. Trying not to jump to hr heads just yet.

If you have to ask, you can't afford it?

The Nismo Oil Pump VQ35HR / VQ37VHR does that come stock with the Nismo model Z's or is this an actual aftermarket upgrade?

SS_Firehawk 07-25-2014 09:20 AM

Upgrade

1slow370 07-25-2014 11:42 AM

like all nismo race parts it is made by an aftermarket company and licensed through nismo, also it isnt that much better, it is the exact same design as the oem one just made with better steel for the gears, so the the gears still vibrate and bind against each other at high rpm, they just don't fail as fast.
