Uprev or not?
I have an HKS cbe berk HFCs and post maf silicone intakes with drop in filters. I was thinking of getting stillen gen2 intakes to replace the silicones and drop ins. Now can get the car tuned with these mods without getting the up rev flash?

The UpRev flash is the tune so I don't really follow your question.
Side note. If you aren't going CAI, then just stick with your maf tubes. |

There is no way to tune without "getting the up rev flash", as you put it. A tune is useful for throttle response and fan control even without any mods. You don't need a tune for intakes and exhaust, but a tune will take advantage of them better than the stock tune. A tune really helps the car utilize bolt-on mods to their full potential. |
I guess you could go with Ecutek instead of Uprev, but that's a entirely different can of worms. And friends don't let friends buy short ram intakes. Stick with what you've got and get an Uprev tune. You don't need to reinvent the wheel.

My tuning cost isn't comparable to what you're doing since you're NA and I'm not. I had the Uprev cable for my base map, so I only had to pay for the tune. The tuner took most of the weekend annd built a map from scratch.

They pull hot air in from the engine compartment. They're worse than stock. On a dyno you're ok, because the hood's open and the fan is blowing on it. It'll show some gains. In the real world with the hood down, it's a hot air intake. The stock intake is less likely to heat soak since it's not metal, and the airboxes pull cooler air from in front of the radiator support instead of hot underhood air. That's why drop in filters and MAF tubes work so well. You're still getting cool air.

Count on at least $500 for a tune where the tuner actually gets in the car. That's probably on the very low end, but please note that getting advice on cost from guys on the internet far away from your location might not be the best numbers for your budget. As Chuck mentioned, post in your regional thread to see if there are some guys with recommendations near you. They might have some more accurate cost estimates for you, but the only way you'll really know is to call up those shops and ask them. |

When getting it done at a shop you typically buy the license which is $300 then they charge you for dyno time. Down here it's about $175hr, so about 2hrs dyno time is about $350. So $650-700 total gets you done.
