With LTH's, we found less overlap at low load picked up some power and more overlap up top led to gains as well.

With OEM headers but intakes and higher flowing catback you might try adding some overlap over 5K and leaving it about stock below. The rest is going to be trial and error...

Thanks jordo

When you say add some overlap do you mean increasing the vvel timing ? The vvel table b and c seem to influence what it shows in the vvel log .. not clear on what is actually does though..!

Aren't there 2 timing compensation maps that uprev was able to use to tweak timing? I know there was some information in Megan's nismo vs standard ecu thread. I'd like to know myself, because I'm thinking about running a 100 shot and would like to reduce timing.

it is call the VHR timing correction.

Since I no longer have a VVEL engine, I only rely on a friend of mine whos tuning his 370z with the use of the newer map by Uprev, he had control over his ign timing.

basically the original Timing Map is more of a target table similar to the AFR table and by using the VHR timing correction this is where you can play with how much Ign Timing you desire.

Thanks for the info Megan, I tried the vhr timing also but it does not seem to increase the timing more than the screen shot I posted earlier, even if I give it stupidly high numbers, it would only go up to certain amount and not any more. My car is no where near detonation and I am sure I can easily run couple more timing over the entire range.. ! Is your friends car NA as well.? It seems like many fi people are actually using it to decrease the timing rather than increasing it..

He is N/A....

as far as i know he raised the mid range to 26-27deg ign timing from 22-23 but hes working on getting a proper knock detector to go any farther ... you would be surprise how the vvel engine is easy to make it ping/knock once you have an headphone listening to those knock sensors....

bleunetizen 01-10-2015 12:22 AM

Oh? Hmm I used a knock block my local dyno shop uses, had it bolted onto the block to listen to knock.. it was so quiet , I could hear heaps of noise in 350z using the same block so I think the car really was running very quiet hmm..

So do we increase/decrease the timing in the main map, then go into the vhr timing correction and alter it until we hit the targets in the main? Or does the vhr timing correction map take care of all timing adjustments on its own.

just out of curiosity.

how much of the vhr timing pts did you increase so far to see any result ?

secondnissan 01-10-2015 05:47 PM

I haven't tried to tune timing yet, just was wondering how it works in these cars because it seems people have issues increasing / decreasing timing. I plan on running a 100 shot and want to take out 2 degrees while on the spray. How many points in each cell decrease /increase timing 1 degree?

ANMVQ 02-22-2016 09:06 AM

What happened with this , I have been seen 6 counts of KN from 4k to 6K all, Just started two weeks ago, I change, plugs, all 02 sensors( had bad HFC's) cleaned, MAF's TB's deleted the PVCs capped off Mani, no vacum leaks anywhere,

Ignition Timing Calculated (°) is 20
Ignition Correction (°)-6
Map Trace Knock (°) -6
AF's are 12.84

Any thoughts?

Mods Fully bolted, 93 oct, even tried a mix of 93 and 3 gallons of 100(Cam2) no change
