Transmission: Stock 6speed
Gear: 5th
Engine Management: UpRev Osiris tuning suite
Engine/Power Modifications:
  • Fast intentions Cat back exhaust
  • Boosted Performance twinscroll 6266 turbo kit
  • 320LPH Fuel pump
  • Bosch 750cc injectors
  • Turbosmart Boost Tee boost controller
  • OEM returnless style fuel system
  • Upgraded oil cooler

Here is another local boosted Z that we did a while back. Actually didnt realize I hadnt shared this one yet. This is for a great customer of ours name Nate. He did the install himself in his garage and did a great job. Outside of one minor issue with fueling during his first visit the power came easy and we didn't have any boost or vacuum leaks to deal with, so lets all give Nate a round of applause . This set-up worked great and made for loads of torque. All pulls were done in 5th gear and the car sounded absolutely fantastic through the Fast Intentions catback.

We have gotten the opportunity to work with mainly boosted Z's and G's and have seen great results out of many of the options on the market. Between VSR's top mount kit, boosted performance mid mount kit, Stillens superchargers and the various impeller upgrades, and the GReddy twin turbo system each option provides a unique driving feel. We made the most power to date on the VSR kit, but I think the results from this kit would have been a lot more impressive in the top end if we could have gotten the boost to hold flat. The 2 - 2.5psi we dropped off should have put this car up over 500WHP without issue, and would alleviate the small drop in power in the final ~1000RPM. In the future we might explore a different, more complex boost controller (AEM Truboost or GReddy PROFEC perhaps), if Nate gets the urge and see if we cant enhance the power on this set-up a little more. Overall though another great option for guys to consider for their Z!

Yes this is 370z forum member Puckshaw's final results. His car baselined at 282whp on our dyno prior to his install.

Proper EBC should get him easily to 550rwhp like other BP cars... nice results though! Great kit!

Definitely plenty of headroom left! We just tried to get something easy and quick in place prior to the tune to allow for additional boost over wastegate. The simplistic Turbosmart boost tee obviously wasn't keeping the boost up in the top end very well which capped the power output .

The first BP 370 had the same issue on the dyno but it was solved with a proper EBC.

Yeah Puckshaw had mentioned something about other cars with the BP kit having similar curves. Not sure what he has planned, but its already gnarly on the street as is!

Is the drop in boost caused by the manual boost controller itself, or the VVEL increasing overlap at high rpm so part of the boost charge is getting blown out the other side of the head and the ebc is "solving" that by adding boost as it drops?

I believe boost is added by the EBC in the latter part of the RPM range to compensate for the losses you describe.

I really don't see it as much of an issue unless you like to drive at 7500 rpm and max HP... the midrange power and torque is phenomenal and a slight taper at top end is no real world loss to most people that DD or do not track their cars.

Well, that's one way of looking at it. I'd prefer a solution to dial back out some of the overlap and keep my boost. That way it also stays cooler since we're making life easier for the turbos. They don't have to make extra boost to compensate. Ecutek promised this, but they also promised a bunch of other stuff and haven't done ****. We were teased with VVEL adjustments through Uprev, but it seems like that disappeared as well.

Correct, 5th gear pulls. When running a car with inertia it is important to pick a gear close to 1:1 to prevent inflating the numbers. The gear ratio essentially can act as a multiplier depending on how the car is being tested. On a 370z 6speed I have found the following ratios:

1st - 3.794
2nd - 2.324
3rd - 1.624
4th - 1.271
5th - 1.000
6th - 0.794

So thats why we opted for 5th gear pulls versus 4th gear! If we were using the PAU to apply load we would have most likely tested in 4th gear.

Sorry for the delay, had a few hold-ups along the way between software and fuel system. This is what we ended up with before maxing out the fuel system. Considering the change to a return style system which should alleviate the issue.



Final numbers for now, 500WHP will be easy with enough fuel!
