Uprev Oriris Standard Vs. Tuner

The tittle says it all BUT BEFORE I start getting all the critics -.- My question is is it hard to create your custom tune? I mean I'm NO PROFFESIONAL just a car enthusiast whose willing to learn to work on his own ride and share with his community ya know?? Yea I can pay for standard but I've read here that uprev takes quite some time for them to reach you (don't quote me on this.)

In my opinion,
If you never tuned before and aren't a track junky who love doing everything yourself. I wouldn't bother with the Tuner version.

Yeah its cool to have your own program to modify your own ECU but in the end you spend way more time learning to tune and dyno time $$$ than what its worth which you are better of using an experimented Tuner that will do it for you on the dyno.

All that he above is true, but being able to do minor things as well as make small adjustments, read/clear your own check engine lights, be able to set when your fans kick on/off, aand ble to set your own launch rpm (if you are manual), is worth it to me.

Just cause you have the tuner version, don't mean you are a pro, but it does help being able to do all of the above and still get a pro tune either by dyno with a tuner or etune.

You can check/clear codes without the full tuner version. I check/erase mine all the time

Didn't know how to put it but this is what I meant like tweaking certain things on my own and then either dyno or "Road Dyno" (<--Dunno if that's how you say it) the car so the map gets settled in....idk that's the only reason I ask since I am going to put gears and nitrous on my build that's part of the reason why I asked but need to think it over per say....Btw I don't track the car but I do Drag every other weekend or so.

I do not have a G37, but I have an Infiniti EX35 AWD with VQ35HR engine on a 5 speed A/T. I bought a Tuner version online and it was Etuned by Seymore4 known to Titan forum. I have my tune since Sept. 2013.

This is what I noticed with Uprev tune. There will be time that close to a month that the car does not respond like it was before. So what I did was hooked up my tuner version and cleaned the fuel map setting again so the ECU will relearn fuel maps again. By doing this, I noticed that the car responds as if it was just tuned again. It is weird, but It does pull harder than leaving the tune for a month without cleaning or erazing the fuel map.

I searched online and I read somewhere, that through time that whatever Uprev tweaked some ECU parameters, the ECU will tend to go back close to being stock specially the fuel parameters and other stuff. Time and time again I clean the fuel maps (2 secs to do it) and It works all the time. This can't be a placebo effect since, I have done it a lot of times now.

I am not a tuner but it is easy to clean that fuel map using the software.
I am not sure if that option is available on the Standard version. If it is not, the Tuner version is worth it just for that issue alone.

BTW, I bought my Tuner Version used for $400 from one of the members at TITANforum.
The guy who Etuned my car is Seymore4 ( an Uprev protuner and Etuner at Cajuntuning)

If you've got the extra $$ and like to tinker with stuff then the tuner version can be well worth it. I wouldn't recommend trying to tune from scratch by yourself with no experience or guidance, but combined with a couple etunes to get you really close then just some fine tuning on your end it works great.
