My Mustang Dyno Numbers
I finally got a Mustang Dyno tune done yesterday and the temperature was 73 outside. I have had my car for 20 months and less than 9,100 miles on the odometer. I do not drive the car hard and I have went close to red line maybe a couple of times since owning it. To make a long story short, the tuner said I need to drive the car like I stole it in order to get better whp numbers. I'm not really worried about what kind of numbers I can produce, but more into the sound. The turner was in fourth when the tune was getting done. The turner was also able to go 160mph in 5th and never touched 6th and the limiter on my car is 179 mph. Everything on my signature below was what was on the car for the tune. Please see attachment for Mustang Dyno numbers and the link below of my car on the dyno.

Mustangs are known as the "heartbreaker" IMO these are not bad #s for the type of dyno.

I didn't know what to expect for whp numbers and the Mustang Dyno numbers are supposedly the lowest compared to Dyno Jet and other dyno's. In the end it is not about the whp number, but more about how the tune is actually done/setup.
There were two other Nismo's with almost the same mods and they produced a lot more whp. One of the Nismo's produced in the low to mid 290's and the other Nismo was at 301 whp. These two Nismo's had an easy 30-40k plus more miles on them and have been driven how they were supposed to be driven. I do agree with what the tuner said about driving the car more and driving it hard (not dogging the sh*t out of it) to break the car in. Oh I just added a video clip of my car on the dyno (my first post), so you will hear how the Meisterschaft exhaust sounds along with the other mods that are on my car (please see sig for mods).

VERY true. Also, dyno #s are somewhat useless. It is more about what you gained!

LOL..... I appreciate it. The vehicle was already warmed up & this was his third go at it. The tuner loved the sound of the exhaust & everyone there was like WTF is this & what mods do you have.
The FI RHFC was installed two Fri's ago, the Stillen Gen 3 was installed last Fri & the M370 Intake Manifold was installed that day of the tune/dyno. I'm not an expert on dyno's. I would think if you have a good solid positive curve, then that is good.

Your Car is loud as hell. I love the sound but too loud for my taste. I need to be able to drive home w/o waking the neighbors.
Mind if I post my Dyno in this thread? It will give good comparison. I only have K&N short rams. Everything is stock. My car was Dyno about 1hr after his. As for the low ##, everyone at J said that everyone was running low yesterday. Last edited by YzGyz; 12-23-2013 at 03:32 AM. |

You can post your dyno on this thread. I thought about going back to JTran this week and getting another dyno. The reason it will be colder outside and my car will have a couple hundred more miles put on with the mods instead of going in cold.

If you want a more comparable number, go find a Dynojet. They're more consistant. I used Powerfab for my baseline. Mustangs have too many variables in the way they're set up to be able to compare numbers with other vehicles.

Dynojet supposedly has better (higher) dyno numbers, but it’s all relative. I wouldn’t bank on the actual dyno numbers because not every shop is going to have their dyno’s set up correctly/perfectly. I also wouldn’t recommend that an individual puts all their eggs into one basket and base their whp numbers on the Mustang numbers, or just on one dyno read out. Mustang read outs can be a pretty good kick in the d**k on what you think it should be and what the dyno says it is. I have heard from countless people that a car losses 15-20% of its total hp before accounting for actual whp. As I stated earlier when I had my dyno done it was 73 outside and several hours later it was in the low 60’s. I guarantee you that I might have been able to squeeze out a max of 10 extra whp (maybe), but I need my ECU to become more familiar with the new mods.
