Trap speed? like 1/4 mile times?

LMAO....... Psch sleep is overrated & there be plenty of sleeping when I'm dead. I went to midnight mass & it lasted a good hr & half, then I had maybe a 40 min drive back home. Why are you up so early making a post or posts?

Its at the 1/4 mile when you cross the finish line. See HP is fake. It's not real. It's just a calculation of TQ which is real and measurable but all dyno's can be messed with and read wrong. No matter how bad your 60 foot is at the drag strip, you'll still trap a certain speed at the end of the run within a mile per hour or two. Since we know the distance, we know your trap speed, and we need to know your cars weight; based off of that we will know your true HP since there's no way you could reach that mph within a 1/4 mile weighing 3xxx unless you have xxxHP. A dyno doesn't take into effect drag coefficient etc so running at the track gives you the best/true result of your power.

Nice write up on the explanation of trap speed & I appreciate it. Oh Merry Christmas everyone.

Absolutely and thank you, but the video literally does no justice. The sound is just a vicious nasty sexy SOB that is just asking/looking for trouble. I’m really surprised the neighbors haven’t complained about taking the car out late at night and early in the morning for work this week.

UpRev Retune Today

1 Attachment(s)
Ladies and gentlemen. I got a retune today which is 10 days later, almost 30 degrees colder outside, and 650 miles put on my new mods (Stillen Gen 3 & M370 Intake Manifold). I was able to get 298 whp (was 274 whp) and 248 torque (was 220 torque). This was at JTran again and the same Mustang Dyno. Please see attachment.

Very nice. It's amazing how much of a difference ambient temp makes.

Mustangs don't auto compensate for temp like dynojets? Seems to me the tuner likes to mess with the settings.

Thank you both. I agree that the temperature does play a very very huge part in tuning a vehicle, but breaking in the mods does impact the numbers as well.

I can definitely feel a difference in driving considering that I went up 24 whp, but mainly to the fact that went up 28 ft of torque......hehehehe. Oh I'm not going to complain or throw rocks at these numbers, but makes me wonder what I could pull on s Dynojet under these exact same conditions.

Mustang Dyno

Yeah, you're definitely going to feel almost 30whp/30trq. It's probably a completely different car. Hopefully he adjusted your fan settings so you can keep a little of the power once august rolls around. :rofl2:

My buddy with similar mods put down pretty much the same numbers as you at JTran and then hit 325-330 over at powerfab on their dynojet.

Absolutely and it's basically a whole new animal in a way. I would definitely think so, but Johnny knows his sh*t. I will go back to get another retune (beginning of June probably) for the summer weather and I will just switch between the maps based on cold/hot.
Nice.....very nice numbers for your buddy. I'm thinking I could probably get 330-340 whp on a Dynojet based on the same exact conditions as today and what I was able to get on the Mustang Dyno.

Very nice updates on the dyno. Glad your enjoying the setup. I agree, in person, it's a different animal.

Fo Sho.......and thank you. I still treat her like a lady, but she can be treated like a wh**e at times too (assuming nice weather & no idiots on the road). I will say this about her; she is absolutely an effen screamer and has no probably let everyone around her know it…..lol

I agree with everyone else, that sound is absolutely ridiculously sickkk. Now if you wouldn't mind, here me out... my Z is unfortunately put away for the winter here in Upstate, NY.. the only possible way I can keep sane is by watching youtube videos and videos I recorded of my car. Is there anyway you can record some drive-bys? just so I can have at least something!

I appreciate it big guy. I love the sound of as well. I admire you enthusiasm and your sanity. As we speak I do not have a camera and the dyno video that I recorded was from my iPhone 4S.

I'm kind of in the same boat as you guys in the winter months with my car, but minus the snow since I'm here in Houston. I'm currently studying for the CPA and planning on taking the first part of four parts the last day of February and I'm kind of having withdrawals too......lol. I see myself reverting back to the dyno video I recorded on my phone every now/then and listening to other exhausts sounds too.

I came across this thread (Meisterschaft VS. Fast Intentions) awhile back and diego@vossen posted some really really good videos of the Meisterschaft. I would say that the sound of his car is dead on to the sound of mine. Please see link below.

The first link below this was a cruise that was done the last weekend in December. My car was the one in front of the car with the cam and you can hear my exhaust tone hear/there minus the music at 2:20 to 2:28 & 3:04 to the end.

As I always suggest: Put it on a dynojet.

Load bearing dynos, like Mustangs, will give inconsistent values from shop to shop, depending on how its calibrated.

Dynojets, on the other hand are far more consistent across shops as there is little to adjust.

Temp (and also humidity and air pressure) makes a HUGE difference; no correction factor can perfectly adjust for it either.

I agree and as others have stated Mustang Dyno is a heartbreaker -aka- kick in the d**k. I'll probably get a Dynojet done sometime in the near future, but I'm not worried about the numbers really. It would be nice to say my whp is xxx, but it really comes down to the tuner doing the tune on your car.

You can also get a good idea by looking at the % gain from baseline. That should be highly consistent across types of dynos -- meaning, the absolute values won't matter, just the % delta ;)

Either way, nice set up on the car! I'm sure its a blast to drive

I didn't really think about that. I was looking at the difference, or the area under the curve.

Thanks and each time after the tune, the car felt even better. I'm not going to complain one bit and it is a blast to drive.

But if the tuner messed with the settings from one to the other it makes the baseline worthless. Unless you're talking about a baseline same day vs the last run done.
