Spark plugs...

Yes I know they are 100k plugs, but Iwant to change them anyway, going for a tune soon. The supposed OE plug is fxe24hr11, NGK does suggest a 7 heat

Default Spark plugs...

Yes I know they are 100k plugs, but Iwant to change them anyway, going for a tune soon. The supposed OE plug is fxe24hr11, NGK does suggest a 7 heat range which is a 22 denso...which is the old HR plug. I can get the fxe22 with ease, anyone see an issue, obviously I am NA.

Nissan see confused as well! (I checked multiple sources)

I had to swap mine today for a tune. Only 16k miles. Its worth doing. Just use stock OEM spark plugs. Its the same as the gtr plugs.

It's an after thought is the issue my tune is on Tuesday...out of time. They are both 8 heat range gtr and our plug... which from what I read is quite cold for an na engine.

No, the GT-R uses a DILKAR8A8 plug which has a smaller gap and a different grounding strap design.

As for the original question I would stick with the OEM heat range. The VQ37HR is already somewhat prone to detonation. 11:1CR on pump gas makes it difficult enough to pick up power, don't put yourself CLOSER to detonation with the hotter plug. By storing less heat in the plug your tuner might be able to squeeze a little more power out before he finds the limit of where the engine is happy.

Hotter plugs will make more power with the right fuel, but I wouldn't run a hotter plug without e85 or higher octane race fuel not just plain ol' pump gas.

Just my opinion!

I couldn't find them anywhere locally. Had to order them. Dealer quoted me $120, I said So I went n ordered them from Z1. Aaaaannnnnddddd didn't even have to use them.

well considering NGK says a 7 range plug, I threw the 22's in there, we will see what happens, the idle is WAY better. My cousin wasa former nissan tech and had many engine triaining sessions and he said he has no idea why they put such a cold plug in it.
We have 93 octane everywhere here, no 91, so me thinks its going to be ok.

I can personally confirm that I pulled my oems out and replaced with brand new in box OEM gtr heat range 8 plugs and they were the same thing. But hey not like I had them in my hands yesterday or anything.
My car is the only 370 I have pulled the plugs on so maybe before I bought the car new the dealer had swapped them in there. Its the only thing I can suspect if they DONOT normally use the same thing.

Opinions on NGK R2558A-9? It's listed in the Nismo catalog as a race spark plug.

I'll call the tuner on Monday and ask what they advise. I can always stick the stock plugs back in Monday not hard job just sucks you got to take off the throttle bodies.... Also help put an exhaust on a gtr today... that was fun!

I sent an email on over to the tuner, hopefully they get back to me monday... I told them the dilemma, ill run the OE plugs with 22k or new fxe22...from more research it seems they bumped it to the step colder due to the 11:1 CR, but there are mixed opinions around the web, some say use 8 heat range for 11:1 other say use 7, I will let the tuner decided, but the car sure does idle better, much cleaner idle, didnt get any pings on the drive home, but that is a good point about the timing, they might not be able to advance as far as with the 8/24 range...
