Default New Mods Dyno Results (Art pipes, Takeda, Custom Headers by Speed Force Racing, UPREV

I finally got all of my new mods on the car a couple of weeks ago and got it Uprev tuned at Advanced Race Technology in Sarasota, FL.

New Mods:
-Takeda cold air intakes
-Motordyne ART pipes
-Custom headers from Speed Force Racing in CA
-19 Volk TE37s

Their headers are 304SS, have 1 3/4" primaries and use Burns collectors. The quality is top notch! I'll let the pictures do the talking:

Prior to the new mods, the car had Tanabe exhaust, ERZ HFC's, M370 mainfold and K&N drop-ins. The car dyno'd 294/245 in 2010 at Proven Power, a Dynojet in Tampa that many 370's have tuned at with "normal" results. The weather was awful: 90 degrees and 95% humidity.

This time the weather was perfect.... 70 degrees with low humidity and I was running on 19" TE37s instead of Sports rims that I tuned with in 2010. I did 5 baseline pulls and they were all very consistent around 301/251 on his Dynocom dyno. The A/F was in the high 10s and the timing was way down. I guess those mods leaned my car out so much that it threw my stock ecu into "safe mode".

After UPREV tuning it made 306/273! The A/F sweet spot was around 12.2 At that A/F we were able to increase the timing a bit and make good safe power.

I then swapped out the OEM air boxes and K&N filters for the Takeda Intake, all while still strapped down to the dyno. 2hrs later and after retuning, it made 312/277.

Next we swapped out the ERH HFCs for Motordyne v3 ART pipes. 2 hours later after retuning, the car made 318/277. It's hard to tell from the graph but the results were impressive. The exhaust was noticeable quieter but a little less exotic compared to the HFCs. All in all they are very impressive and worth the money.

Next came the header install which went surprisingly very smooth. My friend and I were able to swap them out in 5hrs. He's a bit more mechanically inclined then myself, so he did the driverside, while I did the passenger.
After retuning for the last time, the car made 328/283.
When I took the car for the first drive after installing the parts I was blown away. The car has absolutely no traction through first and most of second gear and is sooo much torquier during normal driving in traffic. The new Fan tables dropped my oil temps by almost 20 degrees!

Graphs:

This graph shows my baseline untuned vs all of the mods installed and final tune

All of the final tuned graphs overlaid. With the graph being so zoomed out, it's hard to tell the difference but you get the idea.

Pics of the car:

Video on the dyno:
The first part is him warming the car up to get the oil temps up to 170 degrees before tuning.

Props:
Huge thanks to Derek at Advanced Race Technology for all of the dyno time. He's a genius when it comes to tuning and was nothing but professional and patient with me. We must have done 30-40 pulls total! Highly recommend him if you are in FL and need an UPREV tune!!!

The key to a quality header for the 370z is the collector and it doesn't get any better then Burns. If you are in the market for headers, I highly suggest you give Tony at Speed Force Racing a call. He was great to work with and I couldn't be happier with them.

I hope you enjoyed the read and my results. This post isn’t about bragging rights or final dyno numbers but I tried to limit as many variables as possible. Let me know if you have any questions!

Great numbers. I say have Tony get on the forum as a Vendor. A shorty header that does make improvements will have a huge following on here.

Damn good info! How much did you spend on tuning?

I bet the car drove like a beast!

It does! He basically retuned my car 3 times so my pricing was different but normally $500-600 for a NA car, that includes the UPREV license.

Holy mother of torque....Most people have high power or high torque. You have the best of both worlds! From the looks of it, Z1 better get those headers out QUICK or Speed Force Racing will be taking all the shorty header buyers very soon.

Yeah I had quite a grin on my face when Derek and I datalogged the car on the street after getting it off the dyno. The torque was completely night and day compared to before. The peak gains are awesome but the midrange gains make spirited daily driving the car so much fun. I'm excited to get the Michelin SS's on the car soon....the extra grip and lighter tires should make it even better.

I'm not sure what the cost of the headers would be. Mine were technically custom, he had never made headers for a 370 before. I know he makes them in-house and he made a jig so making additional sets should be easy. I would just reach out to him and tell him that you saw Phil's results on the forum and see what he could do. I don't want to break any rules since he's not a forum sponsor but maybe he can do group buy and become a new sponsor.

a quick guess without accounting for research and developpment .

burns collector sells for 530$ /pair
head flange probably around 120$ pair
TP/Cat flange = 40$
3 hours of tube prepping and welding for each side ( here rate goes about 75-110$hours ... so lets say 90$ x 6 hours = 540
then the mandrel bent tubbing a rough estimate of 100$side = 200$ /pair

all added up come to about 1430 $ + makeup ofcourse !
from the picture you posted, there is a couple spots where they could improve them even better
I shouldnt be too far off on the price
