It makes perfect sense once you add a solenoid to the equation. I was thinking they were trying to control boost purely with the ECU. Thanks for clearing that up.

fwiw, the "retasking" of the ECU's I/O is also how the flex fuel option works. They simply tie in a gas to ethanol ratio sensor mounted in the fuel line to the ECU and make timing and fueling adjustments based on the exact ratio running through the line.

Okay, I do have one last question....what about the need for a wide band, is this also programmable through the ECU?
