We're emailing maps to all of our customers who purchase the Cobb AP from us. PM me for a price anyone whose serious about buying one.. I've got 4 in stock. I'll also beat any price on a COBB AP.. most/all vendors, websites sell for $695.00, but ours is much lower

We've got basic bolt on maps for vehicles with the standard I/H/E combo. Working with a local tuner/dyno shop, we were able to utilize Cobb AccessTuner Race to develop some safe maps.

Gains were +9whp after tuning the AP (tuning off the base map). So we were able to extract some power from tuning. Maps are fresh and only have it on one local 370Z, and has been well over a month since we had it on the dyno/tune.

*edit on hp gains, my mistake! lol Also, we used AT Race, not Pro

I can't wait to see Denny's response.

Speechless again.

Spent 3.5 hours on the dyno again this afternoon. Not sure if the dyno sheet will download as it's a larger BMP that's giving me a hard time converting to a smaller JPEG. However, the car AFTER TUNING made 330.3 hp and 262.2 (std). A gain of over 13 hp from last session.

Man, was getting a complex about the car being an underachiever. Lots of smack, with nothing to back it up so this helps.

Basically made too many changes to put my finger on exactly what helped the most:

Under drive pulley
Opened up the front bumper so more air reached the Gen 3 filters
Oil cooler (99% chance of nothing at all)
downloaded new Cobb software
55 degree weather

The bottom line is for a change and this is the real good news, the car actually seemed to respond to different input. Going to go way out on a limb and say Cobb made some improvements.

All except two runs were fine tweaking the fuel/air (still needs some) but on two other runs we tried adding two degrees in which the car lost power and on another we took out two degrees and the car lost power again. Could be coincidence or something could be actually happening timing wise. Need to review the logs to see what happened.

Brought in reinforcements to help tune the car from a buddy whom has done this for a living for ten years and together we are going to go a little deeper into the software. An old dog can learn new tricks and pulling out timing around peak torque is normal and he usually plays a lot with the timing in that range. The car is still pulling out some in that range and the general consensus was detonation. Need to log the knock sensors to see what they are doing but next session we are going to focus on details and timing issues.

No time now, but tomorrow I'll go through the logs trying to connect the dots to see if changes in the timing really actually affect what was going on or it was simple an accident. The fuel/air worked for sure!!

In reviewing the logs and dyno sheets from yesterday:

1. The AccessPort logged fuel/air ratio is a bit erratic below 4000 rpm, however pretty consistent above 4000 rpm logging consistently between .7 and .9 below the dyno 02 readings. Certainly wouldn't go by the numbers given by the Accessport until you do a similar type validation. Cobb said they would vary by given car but once a baseline is established, should be repeatable. Think .2 (factoring in the below scale variance) from the dyno is probably within limits of what a wideband 02 would vary from one run to another. Just remember mine was only consistant above 4000 rpm.

2. Running the dyno numbers into my average hp within usable powerband yielded a 9 hp average increase in 1st gear, 15 hp average increase in 2nd gear, 13 hp increase in 3rd gear and a 14 hp increase in 4th gear. Very usable power increase and overall a good dyno session.

3. The car has learned on top and between 7500 and 8000 the power curve has improved. Raising the rev limit to 8200 estimating output above 8000 rpm will yield a 2 hp average increase in 1st gear, 1 in 2nd, 1 in 3rd and 3 in 4th.

4. Changing the timing..... dunno? In reviewing the timing logs from my last (and best run) which I put the stock timing tables back in both of +2 degrees logs and -2 degree logs act like they did do something. The -2 did did pull timing out in certain areas but increased slightly in the midrange. The +2 added timing below but lost it all plus some on top.

Need to schedule another dyno session as my thought process is by leaning the car out it's going into detonation in the midrange and pulling out timing may actually increase power/timing in that area.

5. Even though disappointed with the limited amount of points to change the fuel/air programming, the readout is quite linear indicating no need to go into the MAF for fine tuning

6. The fuel/air from last session was quite a bit leaner. The person helping me tune said I'd probably need more fuel than expected as more and more gas stations are going to 10% ethanol. Hard to say, but that could have been the case so ending up adding quite a bit of fuel. The car seems to like around 12.8 to 1 the best.

7. MAF A and B voltage on the logs indicate one side is getting more air than the other plus A and B calibration scales vary from side to side. Need to mull this over with my tuning buddy as he really knows quite a bit more but my thoughts are the factory has compensated for the factory intake. Now that table needs to be tweaked for the Gen 3 intake. Any thoughts?

8. Non-linear tachometer. For some reason I've felt a disconnect with the tack and the person driving my car on the dyno is an old salty mechanic and drag racer. He also noticed the tack seemed to speed up at times and lag at times. This was unsolicited and surprised me as I couldn't quite get my thumb of the tack. It's also reads 200 rpm higher.

Bottom line....... Think the AccessPort is working better. Don't take it to the bank as a little more experimentation needs to be done but finally think there might be a little light at the end of the tunnel.

Ain't this a bitch...something good happened for a change. What's up wud dis?

forget to mention to try running some race gas and see if it is pulling the timing out based on knock and switching maps on you or if it is some paramater that is doing it even before knock. Just a thought

I called COBB again and they have no new updates as of yet.

I wonder if it might help them to get a Nismo 370Z and compare that ECU to the stock one, to see what Nissan changed to optimize the performance for the Nismo exhaust. Who knows, maybe that will give them a clue as to how to tune the VVEL system (that's assuming Nissan made changes to the VVEL map for the Nismo edition).

Is anyone else here like me and just waiting for them to come out with the base maps and officially support the 370Z before they get a tune?

I am too. I used to have one on my WRX and loved it but never did anything other than the Cobb maps. No one in my area does pro-tunning and I'm not horespower hungry enough to drive to a pro-tunner. Hopefully Cobb comes out with some basic maps soon enough.

I keep requesting updates on the COBB forum but I always get the "still working on it" reply. I am starting to loose patients waiting for them to release the maps.
