Emailed three times and yet to get a response from COBB...?
Anyone on here used the race tuner as yet on the Z? I have experience with the COBB software on other platforms, may just bite the bullett and go it alone, I need the software anyway with a flashing device but wanted an opinion from some one before dropping the bucks. If anyone has a NISMO rom - send it to COBB ;-) Update - heard back form COBB - stil no definitive uodate.. lol Last edited by Kastley85891; 11-18-2009 at 11:29 AM. |

Dont think they are going to release the stage maps with out first unlocking all the definitions to open all the tables etc, cam timing, blah blah , they would just have to re release there stage maps.
I would already have there software if the full array of variables had already been accessed ;-) it does suck but who can put a time frame on correct development and testing. I like to know when I make an adjustment in the rom it is adjusting exactly what I think it is lol |

^ personally to me it is worth it as I like to tune. If some one wants a one off flash, there are cheaper options, horses for courses dude.
If you get one of the calibrated roms when released your car 'should' run smoother, quicker etc, they will prolly develop rev2,3,4, files that you can download for free. Apart from the flashing the AP is a usefull tool, also with datalogging you can monitor your vehicle closely if you so wish, I personally like the ease of install - deinstall. 695 I feel is not a bad price as there are no freeware options. On other platforms you can set your self up to tune and log for a couple hundread bucks, free software so the price of the canbus/OBD11 cable is all you pay, now that was nice and a no brainer in terms of $$'s Last edited by Kastley85891; 12-03-2009 at 08:44 AM. |

It is a very advanced piece of equipment. We've been lucky enough to be involved with the development/evolution of the GT-R and 370Z AP software (from a R&D/testing standpoint). The AP is powerful - as the software advances so too will the vehicle control. Not only is it worth it for NA, but it will take you the distance for F/I - we've made 500+whp with the 370Z, and so far over 700+whp for the GT-R and the COBB has worked as flawless as one would expect. If you are not interested in the current COBBs MAPS, we sell the COBB AP at its regular price with our basic AAM MAP uploaded for free. Even if you are not dyno tuning, you always have the option of data logging. Since you are driving your vehicle no the street 99% of the time anyway, e-tunes through datalog analysis prove to be a very effective tool for optimizing your current set-up. Its not quite to the level of having someone spend a day with your vehicle, but it is certainly the next best thing. Feel free to hit me up if you have any specific questions. -Clint

Too AAM - Is the tune you provide for a 100% stock car or is it with mods? If with mods, what ones?

^^ Absolutely. Sorry about the delayed response. PRI threw a wrench in things around here.
For the basic map, you tell us what mods you have, and just like we do with our flash for the 350z, and we will optimize your particular set-up (also taking into consideration location and octane.) This we are offering as a free service with the purchase of a COBB AP From there, we can step up to an e-tune. We'll still start with a map based off of your set-up. However, we'll analyze your data log files across a broad range of driving conditions and make the appropriate changes. I still need to get some graphs up for you guys. We're also going to be officially releasing the various stages of our TT kit shortly, and we'll be running a special/info thread on our 3" and 2.5" TD exhausts. So when I get in tomorrow morning I'll spend the day on here and focus on getting back to everyone. And I will get into more specifics. And to those whom PMd me, I'll hit you back asap! Regards, Clint

Coming from Hawaii, to have a local tuner is a plus and can help on which brand of tuner to get. Locally we have someone that can tune on their dyno with the REV tuner,.. I dont plan to go wild, but this would be the best setup since I would want a tune "specific" for my car and not off the shelf type map, and to turn off my TPMS error since I got aftermarket Volks on..
Cobb is great as I do have a Subaru Legacy GT, but I have to wait till Jarrad of PDX to come to Hawaii to tune to the mods that I have. Doing a dyno tune is the only way to get the most out of your car with your specific mods... Currently I have a FI Carbon Fiber catback, Injen CAI, and FI high flow (yet to be installed) cats to put in and will want a tune to get the most from my mods. Tuning helped my gas mileage on my Subaru (from 15 to ~17 - 18 mpgs) and running close to 400/400 at the crank on a 16g turbo on the street that is a DD... |

Just an update for those following this thread:
Joe from COBB said this... "Yes we are still working on it. I've got a 2010 Rom to add to the firmware, but we are still working on the VVEL system. In order to produce 'caned' maps we need to be able to tune the VVEL. Thats were the extra power is on these cars." This is great news!!! |

I just wanted to let you guys know that we have dropped the price on the AccessPORT. All models have had the price reduced, however, the new price for all Nissan/Infinity models (less the GT-R) is $495!
We are continuing to develop the 370Z platform and we will continue to bring new features online as time goes on. Travis COBB Tuning |
