UpRev data displayed on Nav Screen....

Who else thinks this would be an awesome mod?

I have asked Jared at UpRev to look into the possibility of plugging the OBDII cable into the USB port on the centre console in order to display our data feed onto the Nav screen. It may require a different cable or software or it just may not be possible at all... but wouldn't it be nice? Basically work like an HKS CampII system.

Well, Jared is interested in pursuing this idea, but at a later date. Too much work at the moment to look in to developing new products.

Let's hope this has sparked some creative interest even if it is for a later date!

I think it would be sick as fawk. Hope they get around to it... but like you said too many projects :/

Would it be possible in a factory Nav?

That's the whole point. might need a video/brain box between the two to send a video fee to the Nav screen, but the data is all there in Uprev.

Mine

Nope. Not a car PC. That is fine for non Nav vehicles or people willing to add a computer.

I am talking more like HKS Camp II

Doesn't hks camp II use our stock nav. I thought someone had done this on here

wheee! 05-10-2012 07:31 AM

Yes, it does. The point is, we already have a software program (UpRev) to collect and read the data. All we need is a way to display it on our screens the way it does on our laptops. Because we would not need a full computer to run such a small part of UpRev, a small brainbox connected to the OBD II port that would plug into the USB port in the console might be the answer. Or maybe even just a 'smarter' cable to connect the screen to the OBD II port.
The point is to avoid spending $600 + on another computer like the Camp II

It's not that simple. The oem radio USB port only supports audio and mass storage devices. If this were to work, up rev would need to develop an interface like the hks camp II that plugs into the RCA video port. You'll be waiting for years, assuming that uprev would even pursue it. And when it does get released, it'll cost around the same price as the camp II.

You make a good point about the USB versus RCA input. Still, the RCA port is viable. I don't think it would be THAT expensive an upgrade to an existing UpRev'd car... would still be nice to have! ....and Jared DID say he was interested!

Why would he tell a customer/potential customer he wasn't interested in something?

For the amount of time it will take and the end cost, I can't see it happening. Just go buy a campII

That's the whole point. I don't WANT to buy an HKS camp II. I already have the data feed from UpRev, why not find a way to expand it's usefulness?

Then get a bluetooth ODB2 transmitter on ebay for $20. But a android tablet, install torque, mount somewhere annndddd done :)

And you mention you have the data feed "from uprev". All you really have is the data from the ODBII. Any reader can pull that information. But ultimately, it would be nice for them to offer this, but it seems like it would be limited as at least 1/2 of the 370Z's don't have the touring package. Not to mention, the numbers the Z sells isn't that wide to begin with.

There's also a gauge company (aeroforce, I think) that makes gauges that plug into the ODBII and can display the same information.

I understand that it would be cool to get the stock unit to show this information, but it's not easy and it won't be cheap.
