There's also Boot Camp which allows you to dual boot OS X/Windows on a Mac. But I've never personally used it, however it did work it would probably be preferable to a VM. Along with the performance decrease, I THINK you have to emulate the USB drives and I'm not sure how the drivers would react with that. It's been a while since I've looked but I think UpRev uses a virtual COM port for the interface (I could be wrong though). I'm not sure how USB emulation in a VM would interact with that, maybe it would be seamless, maybe not.
