Uprev and Mac computer?

You CAN run UpRev without a virtual machine. The Mono framework works very well as a replacement for the .NET framework with Uprev (Mono is being used a lot in cross-platform software development), you will need to download the Mono framework, WineHQ, and lua libraries to run it but it runs very well on Wine/Mono.

Mono is very, very similar to the .NET framework required, you shouldn't have any issues, the only error i initially had was with their Lua .dll but I figured it out.

I know using .NET you can direct edit using MSIL injection, I'm not familiar enough with Mono to know what the MSIL equivalent in Mono is)

Good on you for explaining Mono here. I'm impressed you got Uprev working with Mono. I tried that months ago, some issue with Lua.dll as well. It was easier finding my old windows laptop, so I moved on.

React OS is a replacement for Windows NT/XP. I've tried it inside Oracle VM VirtualBox on a Win10 box and it seems to work well. I didn't try to install/run any OBD/CAN software, so I can't swear that it will work with UpRev or any other tuning software. It's free, so might be worth checking out.

There's also Boot Camp which allows you to dual boot OS X/Windows on a Mac. But I've never personally used it, however it did work it would probably be preferable to a VM. Along with the performance decrease, I THINK you have to emulate the USB drives and I'm not sure how the drivers would react with that. It's been a while since I've looked but I think UpRev uses a virtual COM port for the interface (I could be wrong though). I'm not sure how USB emulation in a VM would interact with that, maybe it would be seamless, maybe not.

After a quick google search I guess VirtualBox does support virtual serial emulation: https://www.virtualbox.org/manual/ch03.html#serialports

Now I'm curious, maybe I'll test it out and see if it works
