Question regarding Osiris software
I called a local shop for a quote on an uprev tune, and they asked if I already had the Osiris software. I do not, and they said that would be an additional $750 on top of the tune. Is this normal, or just that shop in particular?

i'm also looking for tuning shops at the moment, problem is that none are close to me that have experience with a Z. from what i've found some shops will try getting you with making a decent profit from buying an uprev kit for your car to tune it. probably what that $750 extra charge is since a standard osiris is $500 and the tuner version is $700
i just bought a uprev kit and can probably tune mine myself well. just need access to a dyno.

That's really steep considering an UpRev lisence is only $300 from the vendors I've been to, and the tuning is around $3-400. Grand total of $700~.
Any more then that and they're ripping you off.

Talk to John @ Z1, he can help you out with that. He's their tuner and a great guy.

thanks for the tip. i just dont wanna have to pay someone $400-500 ontop of dyno fees to correct a few minor things on a laptop.
i just bought the UpRev osiris tuner kit. it should be at my house when i get home today actually lol also i def need a tune since here in PA i only use 93 octane since all the pumps have it here. from what ive been told Z's are stock tuned for 91 octane. also my exhaust and test pipe addition could benefit from a proper tune.

What if I don't want to tune it myself? Why should I have to purchase the software? That's what I don't understand...I thought it was just a flat rate for the whole deal.

You don't have to purchase the software, just the License from UpRev. Which is $300. Tuning is extra of course, but is not $700 alone. Usually shops run flat rates of $600-700 for License + Tune. Anything more then that is shop markup, and a cause to go elsewhere.

I had the money to either Tune or get PC Calipers, D/S Rotors, SS Lines, and upgraded fluid + pads, Sway bars and rear endlinks, so I did those first since whatever I'm running right now on the Stock ECU hasn't fried anything yet. Also just got the PS, Rear Diff, and Oils changed, to Redline as well.

Ok, maybe I will ask the shop about that. I'd like to go to them, as they are the closest. If not, I have a shop about 2 hours away that will do it for $700. Anybody have experience with Jtune Performance or AAM Competition?

I've heard good words about both, AAM is about an hour away from me so I'm prolly gonna go there when I have a chance.
