chips
Any know of any chips for the z?
Edit: don't flame me, was talking to a local z owner who said they put a chip in there z. Yet I never hear of anyone doing this. |
the only chip i know are those damn rock chips on my front bumper
|
I've heard people say that but the only reason I'd "chip" a car is so the ecu can take a custom tune. There are chips that come with "performance tunes" but I never go that route. Thats more for the Ford guys. :D

Chip - is a commonly refereed to as a canned off the shelf tune that gets put into your ecu.
they are extremely prevalent in the European market, but you look at the american or the japanese markets, it is mostly custom tunes. |
hmmmmmmm

Murp, just look into Uprev.
The stock ECU with Uprev can basically alter anything you would want to adjust. A chip for a car is more common in the euro/domestic fronts but even that is changing to more tuning the stock ECU to what parameters you want. |
Here is a custom tune question. What can I hope to achieve with a tune vs no tune after adding CBE and CAI's?
|
Cobb used to make the Access Port for this car, but they stopped production. :(

historically the tune is more for smoother/linear response more than anything else unless you got FI. you might net 10 at the wheels with vs without tune at the peak on a NA engine. i think you'll appreciate the response more than the peak. CBE alone will probably net you the most per mod as the muffler on the stock system seems to be pretty restrictive. |
I tell most people who are looking at a tune after doing bolt ons to not expect a lot of extra power but it to be smoother and more responsive.

Good deal. Thinking I made hit up Z1 motorsports this summer after my cat-back. Do you seem to have a little better mid range after the tune (4-5K rpm on) ??
