Uprev capability
Being involved in the open source tuning community for Subaru's has sparked my interested in what exactly Uprev has the ability to modify.
Perhaps an Uprev representative could chime in (if there are any here), but from what I've gathered, this is likely the extent of what they can see/change. It does say "include" and not "limited to". There are likely hundreds of different tables the ECU uses for different things, temperature compensations, barometric pressure compensations, etc. Some of these can affect drivability quite a lot. I'm just curious how comprehensive the tuning process usually is. Any uprev tuners care to comment? |

Not much more you need for our car than that.
Only remaining factor is VVEL which is its own control unit so it is outside the main ECU.

Interesting. I suppose there's not that many that NEED to be modified anyway, as most of the compensation tables are usually not used, or if they are, the effect is minimal.
I did some searching but there didn't seem to be much info out there as to exactly what a tuner typically changes when mapping an uprev unit. I did notice that Uprev has self-tuning software for those who want to go that route. Still crossing my fingers for good gains by GTM's VVEL controller.... |

This is what I can do with my Uprev Tuner kit
The VVEL is not supported right now and might not for a while !! Right now We do have the Throttle mapping but no one can really tell what those numbers represent in the mapping. So good luck if you want to touch it ! 5 Maps Cylinder Trim Fuel Target Settings Injector Latency K-Fuel Multiplier Ignition Timing *High / Low Detonation / Cold* Speed Limit Throttle Cut Rev Limiter *Fuel Cut* Rev Limiter (Fuel Restore) Throttle Cut Rev Limiter Calculated Load Cranking Cranking Enrichment Idle Targets Mass Air Flow Sensor DTC Adjust Injector Latency MAF Type Electronic Throttle Torque Management (auto transmission) Fuel Target Fuel Compensation *Cold / Main* VVEL tuning NOT Available |

I just recently downloaded the Uprev software but with running boost already I will not be touching my own car.
My research will be mostly just reading and learning how my current setup was created and why. The thing about the Z is it is a NA car from factory so you have plenty of little things to adjust, but for the most part it is already fairly well tuned from factory. My tune after doing intake, long tube headers & exhaust netted me around 5whp but brought my AFR back into a 'stable' range.

that would mean it control the line pressure. and it is much needed when FI , soo apparently it does work the number in the Torque mapping. are in Newton Meter |

Still, I thought torque management was mainly concerned with protecting the driveline from shock by reducing engine output (e.g., retarding spark). I thought tuning shift firmness from line pressure was a separate variable

*note the "3D" graph below does not correspond to the above table, this is just an example. * Where basically the computer asks for a value to assign for the opening angle of the throttle plate, vs the pedal position. Last edited by xsnapshot; 01-25-2011 at 10:53 PM. Reason: forgot to explain |
