09 UpRev Tuned

Just got back from getting an UpRev tune. I was kinda hoping for a little more, but I think I may have been expecting too much with the few modes I have. (They are: R2C intake, ERZ high-flow cats, and eBay y-pipe.) I didn't get a printout of the base run, but it was 291 HP and 237 torque (SAE corrected). After a bunch of pulls (13 to be exact), we ended up at 297 HP and 242 torque. He tried a bunch of different things to try to get the most power, and keep things safe, and it seems like this was the best of both. Unfortunately, the weather is horrible here (snow and ice), so I haven't been able to really "try it out". Too bad I can't use the uncorrected numbers.. they were 318 HP and 260 torque, haha.

What do you guys think?

Hey man, you're friends with ClemsonWill, right? He's the guy who helped me put on my springs and spacers. Small world, haha. I got this done at National Speed in Wilmington, btw.

Anyhow, they charge $550 for it (uprev license, tune/dyno time). I just called them up last week, scheduled a time, and showed up, haha. They took the car into their "dyno room", and started doing their stuff. I stood in and watched for pretty much the whole time (took a vid with my phone, but it's not amazing). It sounds awesome in an small area, though (think revving it under an overpass). It just takes some time for them to download the factory mappings, then dyno, then make changes and let the car cool down, then dyno again, then make more changes and cool down, and so on.

Overall great experience. They also fixed an intake hose that had a kink in it (replaced it with a better hose), although they charged me for it, haha.

Yeah I know Will from way back, he is a good guy. He also offered go put my springs and spacers on but it's a 4 hour trip to his place so me and a buddy are gonna do it soon. It's cool there is an uprev close to her thanks for the info.

Any AFR before and after? seems decent numbers for mods

nurseryboy 01-13-2011 09:47 PM

Unfortunately, the printouts they gave me didn't include the AFR graph at the bottom (I'm pretty sure that's what's normally there). I've sent them an email asking for them with. I'll post them up if they get them to me.

Considering the mods, it seems about right. The base run was with the mods already on the car, right? So after getting it tuned and running properly it's about on par.

CrownR426 01-15-2011 06:24 PM

Those are very generous numbers you got.
What kind of dyno is this?
I have dyno'd my z on the mustang dyno aka heart breaker and you definetly got amazing numbers compared to myself and my mods.

Yes, the base run was with the mods already on. So a gain of ~6HP and ~5ft/lb from the tune. Unfortunately I wasn't able to dyno it before the mods.

It was a DynoJet. I know a lot of factors go into dyno results, and from what I hear, mustang dynos normally give lower numbers than dynojets, so it might not be that big of a deal ;)

Christian370z got 309HP on his car with similar mods on a dynojet (difference is he had Stillen intakes, but with the hood up and fans blowing right on the intakes, I don't think it makes that much of a difference when dyno-ing), so I was kinda actually hoping for a little more. Although, his says "CF: STD", and mine is "CF: SAE". I don't know if that makes a difference or not.

nurseryboy 01-15-2011 08:47 PM

So I just did a little research, and there is a difference between STD and SAE. Other than the fact that the first one can mess up your nether-region, SAE is around 96 - 97% (at least according to the interwebs) of STD. So, if you take Christian's numbers and multiply by that, we're right around the same number. That makes me feel better :)

Here's one of the dyno runs with the AFR info. Does everything look ok?

Looks a little lean accross the board for my liking but depends on where your tuner put his WB, would not really worry about that TBH.
Looks a fun ride.

nurseryboy 01-18-2011 04:10 PM

He had the sensor at the tailpipe. Could that explain the slightly leaner numbers?

Kastley85891 01-18-2011 04:22 PM

Yes, TBH when I tune with either catted car or a non catted car I go from my Wideband AFR and just call it quits,, probe in pre Cat or exhuast I just shoot for a safe target, probably the same as your tuner ;-)

Like I said I would not worry, looks a smooth enough taper to redline.

nurseryboy 01-18-2011 04:39 PM

Sounds good! Thanks for the info!
