Ditching the Cobb and Greddy Emanage and going uprev

Since Cobb gave up and is not going to be able to tune my turbos and so many people frown on the greedy tuner....which I have both installed now and Im getting the up rev and getting rid of other two... We are getting a baseline dyno on a new dyno then a computer swap just to see how much better the uprev really is. I sure hope this won't be a waste of money.

I have cobb and am also considering going with the uprev. hopefully my friend will be posting up some new things the uprev can do.. it's not my place to spill the beans though.

Hey guys. I have recently(yesterday) installed berk hfc and magna flow cat back exhaust. No forced induction yet. Am considering both the Cobb access port and the up rev software. Just looking for basic improved tune. Thoughts on the Cobb or should I skip and get up rev STD.

Do the up rev. You wont look back. But you might want to go above the standered up rev for the future.

That Greddy Emange is aweful.

emanage has never been a good choice for FI guys. back in the early days people ended up with UTECs and F-Cons rather than Emanage or Split Second boxes lol

wish we had UPREV back in 03-04! do the switch and i guarantee you won't look back!

Spohn. I have no experience tuning. Are you suggesting I get the tuner version and give it a try? I am definately interested in that, but really don't know anything other than air fuel ratio is important to not ruining your engine.
Can you guys elaborate on your plans or share what ya know?

just a quick update... up rev is installed and I dyno'd at 486whp.. my dyno with cobb and emanage was 472whp... but one thing I must say is im not sure how much credit to give uprev or Tony at T1, my z was formerly tuned at jotech motorsports but always sputtered when turbos engaged unless i was full throtle. Tony said it was the emange doing that and that he wouldnt even touch my car unless he could take it off because it sucked. My z is a totally different car now and i just thought it was bad a$$ before. I would love to show it off to anyone on the forum in the east texas area. Thanks Tony at T1 and UPREV!!!

If I have no plans to go forced induction, would you guys suggest just sticking to the cobb if I can find one for cheap?

Jordo! 03-14-2011 03:38 AM

The only point I could see to keeping the emanage (ultimate, hoopefully) would be to suppllement the uprev tuning (I'm guessing that's why it was used with the Cobb?).

For example, you could have the EMU run map sensors or rescale the MAF sensors if needed.

If you don't need to do anything like that, definitely toss it.

Stay away from emanage! In the end, reflashing the factory computer is the correct way to do things.

I'd say cobb for cheap or find an uprev dealer and do a custom tune. What does a Cobb unit go for used?
