UpRev tune... Changing maps?
I think I have decided on the uprev tune... As I have never tuned a car before, how do you go about changing the maps? Do you have to plug it into a computer?
|
It's integrated into your cruise control buttons. Up to five maps. Cruise control LED will flash, indicating which map you're on. Eg.: 94, 91, stock, valet, and anti-theft.
|
That's an awesome feature... Do you recommend the uprev tune?
|
For sure! I've had it for about eight months now. Although I'd wait if you plan on getting any performance mods, and have it UpRev dyno tuned to the additions.
|
Yeah changing maps is pretty awesome, you can even do it while in drive, but I wouldn't do it. Not sure what would happen if you switched into a Valet or Security map while in drive.
edit: Although I have switched to my tuned map while in drive, just because I wasn't sure if I was already in it or not. |

Not a one. With a cell count of 300, the F.I. hfc's are unlikely to trigger any cel's.
|
I have a CEL because im using COBB's prototype HFC's that never made it into production. Uprev has the ability to disable the CEL signal from the O2 sensor itself if you do get one, btw.
|
Awesome, thanks for the insight. I really like the different sound the hfc's produce. Can't wait for all the fi stuff to get here, ugh still another month
|
Whats the price range for a UPRev tune?
|
Uprev Tune cost
When I was there in person, there was sign posted high up on office wall...
Tune was $100 per hour and each tune takes about 4 hours for a Dyno run only it was $135 Buzz |
This is probably a dumb question (and I'll admit I did not diligently search), but does cruise control still function after the tune?
|
whats the avg gains people are getting after uprev 8-10whp?
|
20whp peak gain for me. At lower RPM's I was seeing gains as high as 23~24whp.
cruise will still work after uploading multiple maps. |

I wish my tune got that much... I didn't even get half of those numbers you got from my Uprev Tune... :shakes head: |
20whp is pretty good all I saw here was 10-12max
|
Keep in mind, it's not all about the numbers. Actual power delivery is important too. With a tune, your cr should be much more responsive with a more linear powerband.

I have Uprev, and it worked for awhile, but my tuner told me that he was never able to get the cruise control LED to light up when switching maps. He was only able to verify that the maps were working by going to the valet and theft mode. He reflashed my map the other day because I added some ART test pipes, and I didn't think to go through the maps after the reflash. Today I had to get my car detailed and I decided to put it in valet mode, and come to find out none of the damn maps were working! I'll be contacting him this week about this. Can anyone take a picture of the cruise control LED light because I've never seen one that I know of on my car.

How does map switching work? Using the Cruise Control Buttons... -Hold the set/coast toggle down -Press "Cancel" once for map 1, twice for map 2, etc... -Then release the set/coast toggle. -When you release the toggle, the cruise "SET" light on the dash will blink once for map 1, twice for map 2, etc... |
It's not an LED. It's just the Cruise light on the dash that goes on and off.
|
Before the second reflash I was able to switch maps, but I never saw the cruise control LED flash. I was able to verify that I was changing maps by not being able to give the car gas in theft mode, which was the #5 map for me. Now after the 2nd reflash I am unable to switch to any map. Maan, I wish I wasn't so limited to tuners. That's the price you pay when you are living on a small beautiful island!
|
Up up down down left right left right B A B <Select> <Start> with give you 50 maps... I mean 50 lives in Contra.
No really... I think this video is of a Nissan Titan, but its the same for any (supported multi-map) nissan vehicles. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rsgCxQwrDUU |
Well the cruise light never flashed when the maps were working!
|
Maybe your cruise light-bulb is burned out? Does it work for normal cruise operation? Maybe you have a stock map on your car? Dealer service it lately?

Mkai0 Does the cruise control light even work in normal use? maybe the bulb is at fault? |
I never use my cruise, but I went out today, and it worked fine. Cruise control showed up on the digital screen in my dash, but nowhere else besides that.

Typical maps are: 1: Tuned Map for 91 Octane 2: Tuned Map for Higher Octane 3: Valet 4: Anti-Theft 5: Factory Maps |

You don't have to change it every time you start the car do you?

only if your battery is disconnected
(It should reload whatever is in map 1 if the ECU gets reset, regardless of what map you had it in before) |
ok, I am going to throw a noob question out...say someone is trying to steal your car, it will automatically switch to anti-theft? or you set it that way before turning off car? I dont even have my Z yet, but have read a lil on the uprev, just wondered about it. Sorry if its been covered somewhere, just thought since everyone was discussing it, I would throw it out there
|
You set the mode you want, and it stays there. 94 octane, 91, stock, valet, or anti-theft.
If you disconnect your battery, it goes back to stock mode. |

About a year ago I had a gliche and was stuck in anti theft. I contacted the manufacturer in Texas and their tech guy had me disconnect my battery for 30 min. and it reset itself into stock mode, which at the time was my 3rd setting. I've since had a patch upgrade installed and have had no further issues. My two cents. |
