2010 7AT Uprev Tuned @ Stillen - 10.22.10
Hey Guys,
As the title says, I got my Z Uprev tuned by Aaron @ Stillen today on their Dynojet. They were my third choice after Technosquare and HB Speed - but became my first choice quickly. I tried getting an appointment w/ Technosquare for a few weeks, but after being given the run around and dealing w/ the rudest receptionist of all time - I decided to take my business elsewhere. I tried contacting HB Speed, but apparently they were bought out by COBB...and are retrofitting the shop to become COBB Socal. Thus, I booked an appointment at Stillen as they're only 10 minutes from my house; and were reasonably priced ($550). The performance mods on my 7AT are just some basic bolt-ons: -F.I. TDX CBE 18" resonated CF mufflers -F.I. Resonated HFCs -Injen CAI As I'm in SoCal, I was limited to 91 octane (Shell V-Power pump gas). Weather was low 70s and a bit humid (was drizzling earlier in the day). Overall gains (pretty consistent through the RPM Band): +8.87 HP +9.66 TQ A/F Ratio was running pretty lean (13.7) on the first run, so Aaron brought that down to just under 13 to be in a safer range. I would have loved to have gained 15+ HP, but all things considered, I'm happy with the gains. As you can see from the chart below, Stillen's Dynojet runs a bit more conservative than others out there. All in all, a good day w/ the 370! :tiphat: http://i1019.photobucket.com/albums/...t/scan0002.jpg http://i1019.photobucket.com/albums/...jet/photo2.jpg http://i1019.photobucket.com/albums/...ojet/photo.jpg |
Nice...that about all we can hope for with a tune. What's up with Technosquare?...I've been meaning to go back for another reflash...I heard Tadashi was in Japan last month..Do you know why they have been hard to get a hold of and get an appointment? The secretary is a trip huh? Sometimes she is cool and sometimes she is tripz out on customers and seems totay rude.

Anyhoo...yup, definitely satisfied w/ the tune...pretty much what I realistically expected. |
cool! ill keep them in mind if/when i get a tune. Did you consider Specialty Z?
|
Ya - they're an Uprev Tuner as well, I believe, but ultimately it came down to convenience due to how close Stillen is to me.
Oh - Sammy @ Stillen mentioned that he just rec'd an email from Uprev saying that a new version of their software is on the horizon. He said it will allow tuners to be more efficient, thus spend more time tweaking than they currently do. Of course, this was after my seasion was done :shakes head: Just an FYI...may be worth waiting for... |
that pic of the rim all distorted in pretty neat...

That price isnt bad either. But I wonder if buying a tuner would be better?

Huh? You're only getting 294WHP with those mods and a tune on a dynojet? I got 300WHP on a Mustang dyno with those exact mods. You might want to check for an exhaust leak.

Ah you're using 91 octane then. The difference would be roughly 6WHP.

Yeah I was going to say Stillen messed up your rim by the looks of the picture but....... Nice gains at the 5K range!!! I love how people get all worked up about peak HP/TQ numbers. Enjoy your ride!
