Getting uprev tuned on Wednesday... anything i should know?
Hey guys. Going down to Austin to get the Z dyno tuned at Uprev on Wednesday and i just wanted to ask... is there any special requests i should ask for such as "hey can you increase throttle response"... or "hey can you raise the rev limit to 8k"... or will they just do all that without having to mention it.
Im spending about 1200 for oil cooler, installation, uprev program + dyno tune and want to make sure i do it right the first time. Thanks! |
If you want, they will load multiple tunes.
Valet mode and such if you want. Rev limiter I would leave it, maybe remove speed limiter. They know what to do though. |
How can i switch between tunes if they upload multiple?

i rode in a Z34 at Z Nationals this year that has had it's redline raised to 8100 rpm via an Uprev tune and they said this had not given them any problems at all. the purpose was because the guy autox's his car a lot and wanted to be able to stay in 2nd gear all the time. the guys at uprev know nissans like the back of their hands. me personally? i'd probably leave it at 7500 but that's just me.
edit: for the record it sounded fine up above 7500rpm, not thrashy or like it was coming apart. it just kept right on chugging. car had exhaust on it so it really sang up there at the top end. also, for the record, it had stillen gen 3 intakes and hi flow cats with full cat back exhaust so that probably eased the breathing with that many revs. if you have all stock intake and exhaust, it may be a tad restrictive for 8k rpm, just food for thought |
Any tuner will ask you your requirements etc, UPREV should be no different.
Preciously I ran my Z to 8200 with no issues with CBE and intakes, in stock form as mentioned above it feels very tight up top. Are you tracking your vehicle? just wonderng on the oil cooler addition need. Report back how she goes on their dyno. |
+5 hp from 2 hours of dyno tuning.... Mods listed below. Barely broke 300whp... Is my car a big pu$$y or what? I'm kind of disappointed. I was expecting at least +10 a 15 hp and higher #s from a dynojet.
|
Or maybe it's all these 330whp dynos I've seen popping up all over the place that has corrupted my mind.
|
ask them if they are close to cracking the VVEL? tunning is pretty limited right now
|
I wouldn't get upset by the actual numbers, I dyno'd 340 but im sure our cars are similar, some cars just don't need as much adjusting after mods. Though I will mention that with intake/test pipes/exhaust I made 321 before the tune, after the initial tune I picked up 15hp/8tq, check my sig.

Uprev's shop dyno reads a little low relative to others on the forums. I did 305WHP with my mods (plus i had long tube headers at the time).
Gonna take my car to COBB here and see what it does on their AWD dyno. |
do you notice a difference on how the cars drives and pulls. does it feel any crisper or pull harder? im in austin and have been thinking about the tune but i think i will just wait to go supercharged first. there really doesnt seem to be any reason to spend money on mods since you are half way to owning a supercharger if you go full bolt ons and that gets you what? 20-30hp and you will not be able to feel that power difference after 2 weeks of driving.
|
If you do intake and exhaust mods I recommend to at least check the AFR on the car and ensure its good....if not you need a tune! ;) thats the real reason to tune....you really wont gain power from tuning a car that is already dialed in...but if the car is a bit off you will see gains in the tuning....
