Why was cobbs AccessPORT discontinued?

I did a quick search around the forum but i didnt find anything, I was considering buying Cobbs accessport untill I saw on there website that it has been discontinued. I know i can still buy seccond hand or from some vendors but should I? Was there a design flaw?

That should help a bit, basically they want to focus their force on a smaller core of cars.

Stick with Uprev as long as you have a laptop. At least they support us (kind of). Their customer service kind of blows though.

USAFstevo 08-30-2010 08:46 PM

What vendor did you guys get your uprev stuff from?

flashburn 08-30-2010 09:17 PM

You just buy it from UpRev directly. It's $500 for the same functionality the Cobb provides, plus you get 3 E-Tunes where you send in a bunch of data logs and they create a custom tune for you.

ive heard that you cant completley remove it like you can with cobb so the dealer wont see, is that true?

Nope, you can uninstall it just like you can with the AP.

Does UpRev provide the cable to connect your laptop to your ODBII port?

Yes, they give you the cable and a license. You download the software off of their site.

Can someone tell me any differences and features from the Cobb AP to the Uprev?

1slow370 03-18-2011 04:20 AM

uprev has more features and and can map switch from the cruise buttons

TongMan 03-18-2011 09:28 AM

what are those features?

theDreamer 03-18-2011 09:37 AM

Well, one is supported for this car and the other is not anymore so why buy a product that the company does not even support the vehicle anymore?

flashburn 03-18-2011 09:42 AM

Yeah, seriously. This shouldn't even be a question at this point on which company to support.

UpRev - Engine Management

What's cool is that they are getting better at customer support. I think I figured them out too. They have a very strict pricing structure on reselling, so it's the same price if you buy it from them or a local shop. There are no discounts.

This means that UpRev is dealing with a shop that "should" know what they are talking about and the end user or customer is actually dealing face to face with someone if they need support. Going this way frees UpRev from being on the phone all the time for customer support.

I just installed some ID725's in a G the other day and plugged in some math and WHALA it was running near ZERO trims on first start up. THAT'S HOW IT's supposed to be! YAY UPREV! :happydance:

The 370z in the shop now has GTR injectors in it and a Greddy turbo kit. The math was easy because the battery comps are in the AP for the GTR, so we know factory battery comps on the GTR injectors. That set up rocks also.

All of this to show that it's all math and with the right software and components everything just WORKS correctly. Since Injector Dynamics is the only company that has aftermarket injectors with the correct battery comps for injector flow, those work very very well with uprev. Sorry for the rant, I just really like UpRev.
