maybe the problem is automatic.... anyone tuned a AT??

I have tuned a few AT 370's....and can tell you that they will put down very similar numbers to a MT car....and as for the power/tune?...I see you have the Stillen G3's....that intake will have a VERY close to optimal calibration for peak HP....the fact that you achieved gains in the midrange and corrected your AFR, is reason enough for the tune....the car will be faster and safer now....That is why you paid for a tune.....Peak hp wont make your car faster....area under the curve is where the gains are most beneficial.

Well, Put! :tiphat:

The tuner who I am going to to tune my car is talking about 40-80 HP increase.

I wouldn't be suprised judging by the cars he has done before.

He did say that he would change some things with the engine too. Last time he was talking about a custom intake manifold(he has a flow bench).

I wonder wtf he is gonna do XD

40 to 80 with tune alone? Have to see it to beleive it.

Vegitto-kun 07-25-2010 08:15 PM

40-80 with some other mod on the engine which I am guessing would be the intake manifold since I don't see what else can be changed.

He is trying to convince me to go TT though lol

I have a similar set up as you. G3, F.I. h.f.c's, Stillen cat back, and with the UpRev tune on a Mustang dyno showed a gain of 11 whp, which came to 286 whp.

Will an intake manny give us that much? I thought it wouldnt help a NA very much.

My guess is it's more likely to just shift peak torque up or down. Runner length has a big effect on that.

If it's really well polished and port matched, it might pick up 3-5% more power overall, but that's about it.

:iagree: With the mods listed there is no way to get anywhere near 80hp over stock..

I tuned my AT a few weeks ago and netted an avg of +10HP and +9tq(peak gains were higher across the powerband). The throttle is more responsive and my power delivery is very even, and I'm no longer fuel starved at low RPM. I even notice an increase in gas mileage, like I used to get around 410-420 with some spirited driving I now notice about 450.

There are a lot of deciding factors on how a tune will affect your car, type of mods being one of them.

Your car was dyno tuned, right? What were the before and after numbers?

Ztoon 07-25-2010 10:03 PM

If you find some bolt ons that'll give you 80 hp, let's incorporate, and we'll both retire within the year!!

yes it was dyno tuned , before tuning was 297.1 HP and 241.7 TQ
after tuned was 301 HP and 244 TQ but i know the gain is come from the test pipes...

I don't know how or what he is going to do.

All I remember is the intake manifold and him dumping nissan's ECU and completely reprogram the thing. would be amazing if he figured out VVEL:ugh2:

After i put a new tune in my 7 AT with the cobb, the tranney and engine have to learn again. It takes about an hour of driving till it shifts and runs good. When you flash the ecu you loose all the stored driving habits. Just use the MM mode for shifting and it learns quick.

res0zsfa 07-27-2010 04:44 AM

wow....im pretty bummed...soo i can expect a tune is pointless... ? i kno mid range is better...but still.....damn those turbo cars!!
