Default Stillen G3 Intake + CBE = too lean?

Hey guys,

I am thinking about installing the Stillen G3 intakes, as well as an CBE in the very near future. To prep for the install, after installing these 2 mods, would I need to have the car tuned? I searched and noticed that if you have intake+header+exhaust+hfc, you would definitely need a tune. Thanks again for any advice.

Unless your done with all your breather mods, then I say you could hold off. I usually get my tune when am done with all bolt ons. You might be a littel lean, but i really dont think it should be anything to be too worried about

Thanks a lot. I definitely want to get a tune after all the breather mods, but was just a bit worried about it being unsafe for the time being.

Is it really necessary to get the Z tuned with only the Stillen G3 intakes and CBE? Just curious because that's all I have done.

You might be running a little lean, so its up to you. A tune is good more more then just the mixture, the car runs better after wards.

No, you won't be running too lean with the Gen 3's and our CBE..

Running those in conjunction with the high flow cats AND headers will get you into an unsafe lean position without retuning the car to bring the A/F ratio back in line.

Just HFCs or headers is also fine in addition to Gen 3's and a CBE, just not both.

I hope that helps.

Thanks a lot Josh. Does this only apply to to running the g3's with your exhaust, or is it safe to run your intake with any exhaust? Thanks again.

I can't imagine any exhaust that would cause this condition, with the exception of perhaps long tube headers in addition (same basic principles as headers w/HFCs or test pipes, etc.).

Stillen has done a GREAT job of keeping the intake calibration in check with the G3 intakes and their exhaust components compliment them perfectly....
