Ive always used oem.

I'll usually pick up a few at one time from the dealership, that way im not having to go back everytime I do a change.

I've never had issues with Fram. But I'm used to LS1s. Never had a VQ motor before.

This is JMO but I would not use a Fram filter on a nicer car. Maybe on my daily beater but not on a VQ and especially not on a LS1!

And if you like K&N oil filters, you might as well save a few bucks and use a Mobil1 oil filter. They are the same exact filter, except for the nut welded on the back of the K&N.

i started using k&n oil filters on my mach simply because its such a pain to remove stock filters. with the k&n's i use a socket and ratchet wich makes it so much easier and quicker to do oil changes.

i'll stick with k&n on the fairlady as well...

K&N part # HP-1008. So says the interwebs.

I bought the filter and a case of Castrol Edge but, right before I put her up the lift I remembered my sales agent said the first change was on him. So I took it in and let Nissan do the work. So the next change I will be switching to full synthetic and a K&N filter.

Sidebar: Has anyone ever heard that you should change your oil filter every second oil change?

Interesting... Funny thing is that before I was doing my own oil changes, I was bringing it to the dealer to have them change the oil. Turns out that after the first couple years of owning that car, the dealer never ONCE changed the oil filter! I pulled the factory oil filter off and almost blew my top. I was so pissed.

Talked to one of my friends who used to change the oil at that same dealership and he said that it was probably like 1 in every 20-30 cars they'd actually change the oil filter. I said "WTF WAS I PAYING FOR THEN!?" I know they're cheap, but that's total bullsh!t!!!

I had that car a LONG time. I can't believe it ran on the same oil filter for 4 years. (It was an 2002 and I didn't start changing my own oil until 2006.)
