New owner stereo question

I just bought a brand new 370z touring edition with standard radio. For some reason the stock radio doesn't sound the greatest, and it only has the 2 front speakers. I see there is a location for rear speakers behind the seats, but they don't seem to be working? Does the standard model come with rear speakers? Maybe mine are not working? or are the just teasing me? Is there any easy upgrades to make it sound better?

Thanks for the help!!!! :driving:

Rear speakers are dummy speakers so they are not actually functional. IMO keep them dummy speakers and upgrade the front speakers if anything.

A tune should help get them right. JK :icon17: You should move this to the audio section, there is a alot of people in there that really know their stuff.

You don't need rear speakers, unless you plan to play a DVD and use them for surround sound. If you can properly setup a good set of front component speakers, you don't even need to spend money on rear speakers. It doesn't have to cost much as I've only spent around $200 for a set of component speakers.

Does the stock head unit have preouts?

If you bought a touring edition than you have the BOSE system which has rear speakers. If you have a non-touring then you only have the fronts.

Did you ever get an answer to this?

No there are no pre-outs. We just replaced the head unit and installed new speakers. Sounds 100% better.

Yep, you are right. So I've been doing some research... To use the stock (base) head unit with new speakers and an amp I would need a amp with speaker lever inputs or use a line output converter (LOC) to convert the speaker outputs of the stock HU into RCA inputs that any amp can handle.
