That would be very cool. What mods do you have?

So far just, Injen CAI, GTM test pipes, and FI 18" catback. Im getting a pulley system soon but I don't think a tune would help with that so I decided to just get the Cobb now.
And the map is also for 93 octane, hope that helps a little more.

Yeah, I also just bought the Cobb AP from AAM with a canned tune. I'll be getting an FI 18" CBE, HFC's, and I already have K&N Drop-ins. I'll be doing 3 sets of dyno runs to compare without the two exhaust mods, after, and after the tune is applied. I'll be sure to post the results.

Nice to see all the comparos, Knives, you will be good with a canned map, if new areas of editing are released a firmware upgrade would cover it, my advice to wait was based of a full custom tune.

Basically - Ability to control lift, advance and retard of cam shafts

More air in, quicker air out coupled with a retune of fueling and timing should make for decent gains.

FI equipped vehicles will be able to retune to be quite a different 'feel'

Thanks, exactly what I wanted - a few sentences dummied down.
Could such a thing have adverse effects on the engine? I mean just messing with A/F ratio seems harmless enough within reason, but this starts getting a little more complex.

Sure it can man, you need to know what you are doing, any variable with in your ECU can seriously F you up.
A decent tuner will be able to get teh best from your set up, variable Cam timing is nothing new, but it is un known presently how the VQ platform will react short term or long term, guess we will find out.
In short though too much advance will bog you down, mess your fueling and your timing, screw with your EGT's etc etc, too much retard will not allow enough air flow and can cause a slow revving sluggish top end, you get the picture? as with evrything, all about balance.

I just got mine today. While I was installing it, screen says This version of AP does not support this vehicle. So I couldn't install it. Does it matter if I have 2010 ECU??? My dealer had swap 09 ECU model to 10 ECU model because of the high pitch noise.

Ya it matters dude, you need to pull that rom file with your AP and send it off to COBB to get it added to their 2010 release when it comes.
Although it wont install, you can pull the stock file from the ECU

OOI who here is running an AAM AP tune on a stock Z?

So basically, 2009 and 2010 model use different firmware? Or different version of AP? If the only difference is firmware, better wait till they relase the firmware for 2010 model? Or I should return this. I searched a lot before I placed the order. But I couldn't find that 2010 model not work with this version of ap. neway... I called Cobb support center and the Nissan programer will give answer tomorrow...
