Hp increase w/ ECU Flash

Anyone know what the HP gains are from the ECU flashes company's like Mines are doing.

I doubt there will be a lot of power out of a reflash when the car is N/A.

+1 but they might be able to get 15-25whp.. Who knows.. I read in one of the dyno threads that the car is running a little rich from the factory, so that might be an opportunity to make some power. And then again, i read on another thread that they think the Z is detonating on the stock tune, so you may be asking for trouble by leaning it out.

Time will only tell...

^^^ :werd:

370, try buying all of the supporting mods before considering a reflash. I know that you're looking for quick power (like what you got with the GTI from those folks in Auburn, Alabama), but it isn't going to happen like you want it unless you drop the money to boost the Z.

Even then, I am not sure that you will want to void a warranty on a brand new ride... :eekdance: Right?????? :ohsnap1:

Here's one on a 07+ 350Z. Gives you an idea. They are the same thing. Just imagine taking your car to Shop A vs. Shop B. They're doing the same thing, two different people are mapping the car. But remember that there is never a replacement for having YOUR car on the dyno. Mail order tunes won't have the same result as the dyno below. Any responsible engine tuner will de-tune the map for safetey.

However there are plenty of hacks out there that send the maps out tuned right to the edge for partiuclar car that was in the shop that day. Then things can go boom.

My guess is anywhere from 15-30whp depending on the supporting mods

Skaterbasist 01-26-2009 10:07 PM

The G37 guys are getting pretty good increases with a tune (after they have done most bolt ons). You can expect the same with the 370Z.

Right. Seeing the increases these CAI's and HFC's are getting, suddenly these 340 WHP claims for the G37s VQ don't see too farfetched....

Theres posts about it. The search button is about 6 inches ^ that way...

ssqpolo 05-11-2009 05:38 PM

well. killerbee sent his car with techno square and saw like 11 hp i think with a reflash. not bad, but i would rather get HFCs or G3s for the price

Phimosis 05-15-2009 02:31 PM

With stillen headers, cats, exhaust and G3 intake I only got 26 hp. The ECU flash is well worth the money, especially because of the rev limiter.

The real power gain is not "peak power," but the "area under the curve." For example, After all the Stillen parts were installed, but without the ECU reflash, a 1-2 shift (manual) drops you from 7600 rpm to 4600 rpm with drop in power from 328 hp to 210 hp. After the ECU reflash, you drop from 8100 rpm to 5000 rpm with a drop in power from 343 hp to 245 hp. Because it keeps you higher in your rev range, you're getting lots more power.

+1... FYI all, here's more detail on Phimosis' results http://www.the370z.com/tuning/4594-i...o-results.html

Can the stock heads handle those RPM's without causing valve float? Wouldn't we need to do stronger springs and retainers at the least to go higher than the stock redline limit?

VTalumni 07-18-2009 09:55 PM

I was just wondering the same thing.

RCZ 07-21-2009 10:12 PM

^ its been discussed in another thread. Thought I'd inform you, but you can do the search if you want to find out. Dont quote me but i think the end verdict was no it doesnt.

nightfire 07-24-2009 10:01 AM

Do reflashes also take off the top speed governor? Not that i'll need it lol just curious.

black09Z 08-16-2009 02:38 PM

depends on existing mods also, youll get a better gain when tuning a Z with cai, exhaust, hfc, and such then you would a stock Z
