Get your Z tuned by Top Secret

Hey yall, "Smoky" Nagata from Top Secret is making a stop in Houston on March 31st. He is tuning 20 nissans, 15 spots are already filled. I inquired with secret services auto (where tuning will take place) about it and they said it would be $1200 for a 370z/g37 plus an application process. I don't have that kind of cash with me but I thought I should spread the info to the370z community if anyone was interested.

Heres more info 'Smoky' Nagata of Top Secret coming to IR2010 - Houston-Imports.com

phelan 02-19-2010 01:13 AM

nogood i'll go if you help me pay for shipping of my car. deal?

nogoodname 02-19-2010 01:13 AM

LOL.... ship my G there and I'll ship your Z... deal? :)

vipor 02-19-2010 08:52 AM

Wow that'd be awesome. But $1200 on a stock Z.... not so much.

John@Z1 02-19-2010 09:07 AM

Insane!

Yeah, I thought it was just a tune but it is an ECU from TS and a tune to match.

vipor 02-19-2010 09:15 AM

It says "stock ECU"

Smoky however, is not just coming as a guest, he will also be tuning TWENTY Nissan cars over the span of THREE DAYS at local tuner shop Secret Services with a new ECU prototype, Top Secret Process.

vipor 02-19-2010 09:38 AM

he will tune 20 Nissans with his new program called Top Secret PROcess. This tune is almost unbelievable. The maps add power, alter the response and other parameters and change the driving experience of the car dramatically, on the stock ECU.

This is what I read on the HI site. Doesn't really matter either way since my car is stock :\

theDreamer 02-19-2010 09:40 AM

Well I do not trust HI on info, I use it for funny stories about awesome cars running 15 seconds 1/4 mile making "kills" on the street.
I will find out when I am there what they are doing exactly, maybe it is just a tune.

vipor 02-19-2010 09:41 AM

hahah 15 sec 1/4s. My stock 240 did that :p

I am not joking, go check out the the street section, they allow kill stories. It is so sad, and the best one was recently when a guy in 4 banger Si or something "raced" a 350z. Apparently the Si won, but the owner of the 350z was on the board actually and said he never raced him. He gave him a thumbs up to go away since the Si kept revving his motor. :ugh2:

vipor 02-19-2010 09:56 AM

Yeah I've done that to some eclipse's and other cars. All I think to myself is "1) not worth it, 2) it's stupid"

Zsteve 02-19-2010 10:14 AM

I wonder if he is doing what the Mines people are doing, remember they have a new ECU that is suppose to do wonders for $1200 bucks. I had a post on it a ways down.

HI is very sketchy, I stopped posting there long time ago. Half the board members drive civics/integras. Anyway someone on the370z fourms should take this opportunity and share the experience and info with the community

I will be at Import Reactor, and depending on my schedule I will try to make one of the tuning sessions, but no promises.

Chriz 02-19-2010 11:03 AM

Im going to try to make it on friday and saturday. However due to school, I wont attend the tuning sessions, nor the drift competition.

Yeah I have work & class during the week so I can only do the show, but I am hoping to hear back about the exact tuning session times and maybe one in the evening I can make. :D

LOL!! Not that it matters at this point!!!!! Tell Smokey to stop doing top speed runs and getting caught and thrown in jail!! Or, does he even do that any more? I must say that he is a hard core shop owner!

I think it will actually arrive at the end of March.....

kdoske 02-19-2010 06:39 PM

1200 Bucks.........

sorry but that's a little silly for a stock ecu tune. who knows maybe he can tune in another 100hp............................................. .......................

B1nks 02-20-2010 12:43 AM

Yeah I had a heads up about this from some people that are in the network with Reactor..think I was told about this mid January but they weren't sure on the price. At that time the price was between 800-1500 dollars. I was going to do this but not at 1200 dollars lol ! I can't see anything else coming out of my 370z with intake/exhaust when I'm already putting down 304whp with UpRev tune. I will be showing at Import Reactor also with Team Sunworks (w00t) so Dreamer and Chriz come say what's up ! I'll be the ginger standing around the car haha !

1slow370 02-20-2010 03:20 AM

Import reactor? Sounds like a bad idea if you put that many civics and integras in one spot their twisted together wire harness, copious amount of unneeded plastic, and crush fitting nitrous systems may start a chain reaction and burn there way to japan. Not saying thats a bad thing, but be careful where you park...

B1nks 02-21-2010 01:17 AM

Reactor puts on a good show, one of my favorites if it's at least as good as it was 2 years ago(didn't go last year).

spearfish25 02-21-2010 08:39 AM

OMG, that H-I site makes me nauseas. I had a brief moment of wanting to sell my car to distance myself from those morons, but then I closed the browser window and felt OK about owning an asian import again.

RedComet 02-21-2010 08:42 PM

OMG Smoky Nagata!!! Legend of the Wangan!!! Why couldn't I have been born in Japan :(.....

1slow370 02-21-2010 08:51 PM

1200 for a reflash... :nutswinger:

If it does include the TS ECU, that's not bad.

1slow370 02-21-2010 09:09 PM

it's a reflash from what i've read the mention new top secret ecu which is a bad translation they missed tune it's top secrets new reflash software. yes sir please charge me four times as much as uprev or cobb for the same thing.

edit right from the site:Not only is the legendary Smoky coming to Import Reactor to host a Q & A panel and autograph session, he will tune 20 Nissans with his new program called Top Secret PROcess. This tune is almost unbelievable. The maps add power, alter the response and other parameters and change the driving experience of the car dramatically, on the stock ECU.

B1nks 02-21-2010 11:43 PM

Yeah, just wondering if it really is a miracle tune or if it's just marketing. Not saying I believe in a "miracle tune" but I just wonder how good it really is. I just can't help thinking that if I paid $1200 it would be disappointed in the end. Also after seeing the prices of the Japanese parts in yen or w/e it's called and then converting that price to USD it doesn't surprise me it costs that much. In Japan if you can afford a 370z then you can afford all the parts associated with it is the way they think.

Chriz 02-21-2010 11:55 PM

Dreamer i see a picture of your car posted on HI :ugh2:
My friend said he saw it at 46, really liked the engine cover

theDreamer 02-22-2010 09:43 AM

Thanks. :D

CrownR426 02-27-2010 09:12 PM

I got all the same sh*t for $500. Well technically I got it for free since my car was used to develop it. $1,200 is a nightmarish rip :shakes head:

It's just marketing. My car was ECU reflash tuned to the distance of around 700 dyno miles of testing. All the maps and codes cracked direct from Japan as they (in Japan) had my actual ECU for a time.

Personally I would never pay that for a tune but hey... if you wanna be a baller, to each their own.

Once the official schedule is released I will see about making it to the tuning session, no promises between work & school. I will be at IR showing my car, but I do not think Smokey will be there.
