Default Reliable Tuners in Indiana or nearby?

Hey guys... I'm living in Indiana and have asked before but still have yet to come up with something solid. I have found many tuners near by that love to work on Mustangs and American Muscle but no one that looks like I could trust them with my car.

Does anyone know of anywhere nearest 47304 zip code that I can go for a reliable installer/tuner? I am willing to drive some pretty long distances for someone that knows what they are doing. Thanks for the help!

There is a place here in Ohio that has tuned my car and put turbos on a few other G's in our club. If you want to drive that far. There are some pics of our builds they have done. If ya need the number let me know.

Please don't go to Slo Mo, I have had personal experience with them and was not impressed at all. So have about 5 of my friends, all have nothing nice to say about them. I wouldn't trust them to do anything to my car at all, too much shady stuff goes on behind their big wall.

As for someone to take it to, I talked to Pure Tuning in Toledo and they said that they would be more than willing to tune the Z but have no experience yet with the 370Z. I think your best bet is to wait till someone cracks the ECU completely and has a good track record tuning them. I know this probably isn't the answer you are looking for but I am also willing to drive a long distance for a good tuner. Hell I drove from Cincy to Toronto for a tuner that I take all my Hondas to. Anyway, last thing I want to be is a guinea pig for somebody to gain experience on. Blowing my motor would not be an option and handing your car over to someone who has zero experience with one would probably be a hard sell. So my best advice is to wait or get the UPrev tune or the Cobb AccessPort and wait for better Pro Tuner support from those companies.

I dont know what kind of experience you had with Slo Mo but he has tuned my G37 with UpRev. They have also put a single turbo on a G35 and tuned it with UpRev and also did a TT widebody G35 and tuned it also with UpRev. These are all guy that are I'm in the Ohio G club with and we've had nothing but a great experience with Corey, Wyan and the guys at Slo Mo. I know with every business you cant make everyone happy but all these experience we've had with Slo Mo have been within the last few months. Also everything Ive heard about Cobb is that it is crap compared to Uprev. All the Cobb tunes Ive heard off on other forums are that it does best with the stock tune map that come with the Cobb. Apparently Cobb hasn't done a great job with our 3.7.

Thanks again for the input guys... IDK what I'm going to do... Just kinda waiting around for some results on all of these superchargers and such....

STI 5... How you like your STI? I've been thinking about selling my Z and gettin a used one and just modding the **** out of it.... This Z is too damn slow for me, but I don't know if it would be worth it to go to the STi.... I love the all wheel drive and I love the fact that I probably wouldn't care so much about the looks of my STI (as I really don't like there look a whole lot in the first place, so I could just drive it all the time... snow, mud, dirt, etc... not happenin in the Z).... but it just seems like the type of car that I could run the piss out of and not worry too much about.... I always feel like I am abusing my Z when I drive it. I am never easy on it and I'm just used to vehicles that feel good under a lot of stress and acceleration... This one... IDK about... I just feel like I have to try a lot harder and abuse it a lot more to enjoy it.

We're about four hours to your south, but have plenty of customers in the Indianapolis area who have come to us for various projects and tuning. The VQ platform has been one of our specialties for the past 3-4 years. Feel free to sort through our blog to see a handful of projects I've posted about.

Reflash tunes for a NA setup can be a reasonable method to allow for some additional power. Feel free to contact us directly to discuss further.

I really like my STi, actually I just got it finished up with a tune from the guys at Pure Tuning in Toledo and it put down 292 whp, 336 wtq at 19psi on their Mustang Dyno SAE corrected. All I have done is a full 3" turboback exhaust, intake, lightweight crank pully, and a Grimmspeed Boost Control Solenoid valve. That is on stock turbo as well. It leaves a lot to be desired in the upper rpm range because the turbo falls out of its efficiency range pretty quickly. None the less, very fun down low.

As far as modding the crap out of it, how far are you looking to go, if building the engine is something you are considering, I might caution you. I have never had good luck at all with built motors, maybe I haven't had my engines built by blessed hands yet, but it usually left a lot to be desired. The numbers were nice on the dyno, but all the work that went along with it was quite the chore. The STi, stock block is going to handle around 400 whp, maybe a little more torque, even then, the ringlands on the pistons could be a ticking time bomb. I don't know how much you like working on your cars, but as I have aged and have started a family, time becomes more and more a luxury. ***Back to it, Brazilbro hit it on the head as far as dollar per HP ratio goes, Evo is a no brainer, but for me I spend a lot of time in the car and the interior quality makes a difference. I don't know what kind of numbers you are shooting for but, to me, the more HP it has usually means the more time, money, and work it takes to keep it running. I had a turbo DC2 Integra with about 350 HP and that thing scared me and my friends more times than I could count, was it fun...you bet, but I was one of the unlucky ones who's turbo honda took more work to keep running than building the Panama Canal. I love AWD, but I am taking a hard look at the Z, from everything the guys on this forum and all the mags, it sounds like an amazing vehicle. But you have one and yet are potentially looking at an STi or Evo. It always goes back to "the grass is greener on the other side" way of thinking. I think for right now, Injected sounds like your best bet if you are gonna stick with the Z and want to get it tuned. However, your next step is to sit down and take a hard look at what you want out of whatever car you choose to go with. Make a list of all the pros and cons associated with each including the money it is going to take to get the car where you want it to be (handling, HP, transient response, lap or ET times etc) and go from there. There really isn't the swiss army knife car out there, each one has it's pros and cons, it's up to you to figure out which one has the most pros for you and being able to live with that cars cons at the same time.

I use a guy down in Louisville, ky. but I also recommend Injected and AMS here in the area. I've seen Injecteds work and its A+ I had to race their silver supra in a local drag event in my GSX. It wasnt a contest. haha I was running 12.6's with just boltons 8-9yrs ago that was fast!! I think the supra was running low 11's back then maybe high 10's

StillenZ - Evo's are much better if you want to mode the shiz outa a car.. stock block good for 500+ and AMS is just up the road. I sometimes wish I woulda kept mine and not traded it for the Z.. I was running bolt-ons / upgraded turbo and was making 425/425 whp/wtq . My plan was to turbo the Z and have the best of both worlds -turbo lag of a 4banger.. but didnt know it was going to cost so much

Brazil... man I am right there with you... From day one I planned on going with a turbo for this but with a freakin 15K price tag (to be safe) and even more than that if you want a super reliable and "cool"(in terms of temp) machine, which sucks... Now your lookin at damn near a 60 thousand dollar 370Z lol... maybe I'm the only one that thinks this is funny if your not planning on racing much. (Could you elaborate a little on your EVO theory if you get a chance?) I know very little about the two cars but why do you say EVO over STI... I realize its prolly a little personal pref. or something but I just wanna hear your opinion and any info at all that you have?)

STI - thanks for the response man... I'd love to hear more if you have any other input on the STI topic.... I guess I was under the impression that I could get a lot more power off of them than the Z, but I wasn't planning on having a built motor or anything like that....I am going to wait until hopefully early March to make a decision (if these guys making the S/C's will hurry up and come up with some results... The decision is between GTM S/C, Stillen S/C, STS Turbo, or sell this piece o sh.it.... I just need more power and I feel like an AWD car with some power that I could just run the piss out of would be nice.

Ryan@IP - I love the fact that a tuner actually chimed in on this.... That alone is pretty much giving you my business.... I love Kentucky and drive through there a good 50+ times from about late March trough sometime in November usually... I might make a trip down to your guys shop just to check things out in one of the next couple of weekends... Thanks again for chiming in..do you guys tune with uprev or cobb? or?

Evos/sti both have there +/-'s but the evo as far as modding gos has way more +'s then the sti.. STI has a nicer interior and decent tranny, but modding is going to cost you alot more. 1. engine is only good for 400whp/evo 5-550whp . STI has 2 heads that you have to get worked/EVO just 1. STI harder to work on/EVO easy. If you want to make 600whp on pump its going to cost almost double for the STI then evo. If you want a DD with bolt-ons STI is nice.. If you was a hellraiser for pennies.. evo.

If there isnt a cheap FI out by june Im either going 996 911 turbo or 92 Skyline GT-R illegally Imported from canada.

what are you hoping to get out of your Z, if you don't mind me asking (dollar wise)?.. or have you even thought about it... cause I have and I have like 39 in mine and was OTD just shy of 33K I think.. so my theory is I'm gonna take a major hit on this wanna be beast if I get rid of it now... idk though

edit: maybe not the place for this question lol... I'm just thinkin I'd be lucky to get like 30 but, maybe I'm just thinkin' negatively
