spark plugs question
 

so admin tuning july 10th, when i got the car in nov had 13k miles now at 18k miles should i change the plugs for the tune?

if so which ones to go with?

No need to change the spark plugs unless you're going with FI or running race gas daily.

Plugs should be good to go, however, you really need to change tuners.... :twocents:

Plugs before a tune, new plugs was standard practice back in the day when plugs were more affordable.
Being that the VHR requires the removal of both TBs and some expensive plugs comparing what's out there I suggest you at least pull cyl 1 and 2 to visually check prior to.

This way you can compare after the tune to see your marks on the ground strap and pay attention to the porcelain. You should see a white porcelain once tuned after a couple of passes.

If you really care about this engine change the oil prior to, save a sample, get it analyzed then after your tune save some of that oil and get it analyzed.
Should point out how much it'll be wearing and should give some pointers as to how much closer your intervals should be.

Ultimately mate it's up to you, your car your choice. From my understanding most of the controversy surrounding admintuning is he likes to disable or reduce the sensitivity of the knock sensors to run more aggressive timing for a couple extra hp, which from my understanding there's a way to prove that he in fact does. I'm sure it's fine in 95% of cases and people are happy with the result, but honestly no two cars are exactly the same, you may be one of the unlucky 5% that ends up with a blown engine as a result, you just don't know. All it would take is a bad batch of gas that the ecu would've otherwise normally compensated for.

I can't definitively say if he's a good or a bad tuner, you are free to make your own informed choice. All I know is personally that alone is enough for me to stay away.

1) Copy Pasta tunes
2) Disabling knock sensor
3) Turning down the knock sensor so it doesn't detect rod knock
4) Blown motors

He's been called out on multiple locations, but 'you did your research', so have fun. I hope you have a spare 15K to rebuild your motor. Good luck.

I am not gonna bash on anyone but we have a lot of really, really great tuners that are proven over and over. Some breaking grounds with the software and getting things like the DCT integrated for just one example. I don't understand why someone would choose a mediocre, controversial tuner over one of the best out there?

I'm not going to get on here and bash Moncef either but he does brag on his Instagram stories on how his forced induction tunes are making the most power. That's not because he knows more than all the other extremely competent tuners out there, it's because he's doing something in the tune that can compromise the motor. Overall, I'm sure he's a fine tuner (tuning isn't rocket science) and he is a certified Ecutek tuner. He just has a big ego. You won't see ANY other top tuner brag about how their tunes are the best on IG. And then those stupid flame/pops and bangs maps. That's a whole nother story. :icon14:

When did the truth become bashing? Are facts no longer facts? The copy paste tunes and the knock sensor BS are facts. He was caught red handed multiple times. The flames and farts just make all the worship he gets even more laughable

Reality is we had a guy here that blew his motor on his first day at the drag strip. He had a turbo upgrade also. It didn't end well for him. I don't know if he ever put the car back together. He was tuned by Admin tuning. Nobody here likes to see that happen to anyone.

He was linking the thread, not a single post. And yes, the tune is what popped the motor in that thread. The problem was the car had too much power for an Admin tune. Tons of posts online from various sources are evidence that Moncef tunes cars dangerously. Your research should have told you that.

You are the only mad one here. We told you the truth and you refuse to believe it because you put some guy you don't know on a ridiculous pedestal he doesn't belong on. I really don't care what you do, I was just trying to save you a from getting a shitty tune. If you want to stick your head in the sand and ignore what you've been told that's on you.
