Methanol Injection on Naturally Aspirated Engine
 

I have searched quiet a bit about this topic not only on this forum but in general. I mostly see this application for forced induction. I was curious if anyone has any links or has tried methanol injection on a naturally aspirated engine. Based on what I have seen from E85 giving you only an additional 10hp , any additional power from running this would be worth it. Especially considering the cooling and cleaning nature of water methanol.

Down the road I might try this as an experiment after velocity intakes and ported upper/lower plenums and see if a little more can be squeezed from an N/A motor.

Don't expect any big HP gains if you stay NA. The factory has already picked the low-hanging fruit. The right tune will do you the most good (and even that is not going to provide a lot of extra HP). Getting more HP out of the 370Z engine is not easy (IIRC, bolt-ons plus tune won't do more than 30-40 HP) ... nor is it cheap.

I was under the impression that a water/meth mix was substantially lower octane than E85. Where would the additional power over E85 be coming from?

Also, you can spend a fortune buying parts to get a few more hp on a dyno sheet, or you can re-gear the car and actually feel the difference.

I never said it would make more power. I am actually looking for some kind of statistical data and test on IF it something that produces power on a natural aspirated engine. I would think since it cools intake temperatures it would be beneficial for places that have really hot summers. I also like the idea that it cleans while it is being used.

I had a friend install it on his STI back in the day. When the methanol was introduced it made the air fuel so rich it dropped below the scale of the dyno. Pretty impressive.

I plan on adding a different final drive along with fbo and a lightened flywheel.

Also there are a few videos that show how much it boost the octane rating. Just curious if anyone has run the setup on our cars naturally aspirated.
