E85 Tune W/OE Fuel System
Is anyone running E85 with a full OE fuel system and basic intake/exhaust mods?
I read in another forum +20 hp increase just from fueling with E85 and tuning it but never got a response as to what supporting fuel mods. Are required. Thanks for any help you can lend. :tiphat: |
I was under the impression you needed slightly larger injectors and a fuel pump since E85 needs a lot more fuel volume to be delivered.

if you are staying N/A and want to go E85, the only thing you need are injectors, most popular being GTR injectors. If going boost you'll need a bigger pump.
Uprev will allow you to switch between E85 and 93/91 but you'll have to empty the tank as much as possible. If you are on Ecutek, you need the ethanol sensor and slight rerouting of the fuel line. Specialtyz has a kit for N/A folks going flex fuel. https://www.specialtyz.com/370z-g37/...-fuel-kit.html |
you will need injectors and Flex Fuel Kit.. i was just tuned for E85 picked up 14whp and 9wtq

I just bought used GTR injectors off eBay for $100.
Then had a E85 tune and two gas tunes created using EcuTek. If I get low on E85, I just pull into a station and switch to a gas map using the cruise select button. My car runs best on E85 over any other gasoline type. Ran 12.82 @ 111 mph last friday. Only negative is the fuel consumption with E85. I love it! No nasty gas smell and great power. As far as supporting mods, the minimum would be test pipes IMO. |
Thanks for everyone's input!!

If so what are your wideband AF ratios? Thanks!! |
Yes, stock fuel system sans injectors.
In fact, you can retune it with the OE injectors for E85, but the injectors will be at 90% duty. No need for a fuel meter, wiring etc.. unless you want that stuff. Ive run the car in total stock form at 30% E85 and 70% 91 gas. I didnt see any high EGTs or any knock issues. Now the A/F was off some and power was down, but it ran and drove fine. Being my Z isn’t daily driven & E85 is everywhere locally, I’m in. Are the GTR injectors plug and play or are harness pigtails or other insulators needed? Thanks for the info!! |

I am so lazy I didnt even replace the o-ring on the used GTR injectors.
I cleaned them with WD-40 and compressed air. Then I cycled each one using a 9 volt battery and a paperclip. I then installed them into the intake manifold. |
If you go E85 call Seb at Specialtyz and get his tune.. there is no map switching.. you can run E85 though 91 without issues
|
If you're interested I have a set of GTR injectors laying around.
I just finished 3 G37s that I had tuned on E85. I've done both Flex fuel or just map switching between 93 and E85 and honestly the cost difference for Flex fuel is not worth it unless you're boosted. For NA cars, gains of approx 8-15 whp can be realized but the torque difference in the low end is the best part of it. Contact me If you have any questions, I'm a tuner for Ecutek. |
