Can you DIY tune with EcuTek?

I cannot find any info on this. But if I pay $900 for ecutek with the race ROM can I tune it myself? I can't imagine paying that much for

But if I pay $900 for ecutek with the race ROM can I tune it myself? I can't imagine paying that much for a flash and then not having full control. I see the Subaru guys can but I can't find anything g about the Z version.
