Default Get tuned with ECUTEK today

Hi guys,

So today i brought z to tune & dyno, with mods of test pipe, z1 intake, full tomei ti extreme exhaust, the car made some good numbers!

It is my first time doing this so i definitely don't know what's difference between the tunes(e.g. Uprev vs EcuTek). I would love to hear you guys input/opinions. Anyway I want to share my number here for the forum!

Default ECUtek

NIce. I did mine last year with similar mods, Z1 400 intake kit and headers but stock NISMO exhaust. Had it tuned at Jtran here in Houston.

Hard to see it in your image but what numbers you got from the tune?

Nice #'s did they tell you what that dip in power was at 2800?

Does car have the factory headers?

Actually they did't, and as a rookie in tune, I definitely didn't notice that either. Would love to have someone to explain!

So it has original headers, aftermarket test pipes, then a factory y-pipe, then a tomei single exhaust from there back?

Default graph hard to read

Sorry, I have been away traveling in China and haven't kept up. I had 327HP at the wheels. Didn't get a torque reading. Need to go back and have them dyno it again now I have an exhaust. My number was with the stock NISMO exhaust.

Default Not to get way off topic, but ....

As a new Nismo Z owner, I was curious what the current situation is with getting the ECUTek retune on a stock Nismo?

I mean, since it already has the optimized tune from Nissan to get the extra 15HP or so, is there any more room for improvement in there? Or would it be a waste of time and money if I didn't do other modifications first?

I can answer that for you. I don't think it's worth it. You'll get better throttle response, and since you the S-mode, you'll get flat foot shifting, and launch control. Oh, and also a valet mode.

Power wise, you probably won't make much more.

Late response, but I was curious about this when my Z was stock, and then when I added the OEM Nismo Catback.

Specialty Z documented 310whp (+12HP +16 TQ and especially across the powerband) adding K&N drop-ins.

SZ ECUTek Tuned Nismo 370Z |

I have a similar setup now (aFe drop-ins and Silicon post MAF tubes with the Nismo Catback) and did remote tuning with Seb (great guy). No idea if I do have that same 310whp as since then they could've learned to build up more gains, or go more conservative in practice. Also depends on the gas perhaps.

Either way, the improved response and torque distribution makes it very worthwhile imo. I seriously can't go back to stock unless I had to do smog or something.

But if you're doing your mods sooner than later, might as well wait vs. spending on a re-tune. You'll legit need it if you were doing plenum work or headers and TP's on top of the typical intake+catback.
