Where did you get an Ecutek tune on your Nissan in Australia? I wanted to go Ecutek this time with my Air to Air upgrade but my "shop", Revzone, in Melbourne, only has an Ecutek license for Suburu and for Nissan they only have Uprev which is what I have currently, so no MAP SD tune which was my preference.

Hey mate, it was a place in middle of Sydney near Granville, don't want to put names out there just yet. It wasn't Speed Density tuning as I'm only now hearing about this damn thing and angry I didn't sooner. Shop I'm going to is going to have another look and might re-tune with Speed Density after the AMS GTR 4 Bar MAP sensor I ordered comes in.

Seb will have a base tune that will get you close and after a couple of logs he will have it dailed in and have you grinning from ear to ear. He is VERY responsive and will get you going very quick. Remote tuning is very easy and worth doing if you don't have a local Zen master like Seb.

Perhaps the time difference will work in your favor as you can do all your tuning runs in the dead of night on empty roads, but have some back-and-forth with Seb since it may be during his business hours. |

Not that it is a problem at all. And like everyone else nothing but great things to say about him. WELL worth exploring this option. |
Has anyone had access to see inside their tunes? I'm curious what the various tuners are doing with respect to knock sensitivity. I'm currently working with a new tuner and I can clearly hear engine knock after an update but the engine isn't pulling any timing. Makes you wonder what's happening to the knock that you can't hear and how they are choosing to handle it.

Also, I found that no matter what I try, a hybrid MAF tune always seems to make for the smoothest driving. I've had two separate Speed Density tunes, and neither one of them seems to come close to the comfortable driveability of the MAF hybrid mode. I'm running it between 0 rpm and 2100, it apepars that after that around 2400 rpm the sensors go crazy and the signal fluctuates. I've also heard the opposite, that the signal is bad off idle, and that why people switch to SD , but I haven't seen that happen on my car.

Just a quick update to this. I've got a hold of Seb. Picked up a SpecialityZ MAP Sensor, some new HKS plugs (had factory OEM ones before, 75000km/46000miles).
Going to pick up my own ECUTek cable (already have a licence from previous Tuner) and in about a week hopefully (hoping for a cool day, since we're in the middle of a scorching summer right now), install the MAP sensor & HKS plugs, then we can get started on this e-Tuning thing. Going to try for a MAP only tune first and see how we go. |
