Throttle dead space on uprev/ecutek
 

I have been tuned with both programs. With different throttle maps and etc. One thing that I found has not been able to be eliminated is the throttle lag. It is easily felt if the car is idling and you slowly press the foot on accel pedal and see how long it takes before RPMs start rising. I can press the pedal good 5mm before the RPMs respond. Once pressed past this point the rest of the pedal travel is tunable with both softwares, but for the first 5mm or so it's a dead pedal.

For those who looked at your voltages of THR (Throttle position sensor) and ACCL (Accel Pedal sensor). In my case, (idling values might be different for others) when idling the values of THR are 0.62V and ACCL are 0.70-0.71 V. The THR value will stay 0.62V until the voltage on the ACCL goes above about 0.90V. This means that there is about 0.2V of dead pedal space.

Also, has anyone been able to get rid of throttle bump after pressing the clutch in while accelerating (even slow)? It slows the RPM drop between shifts, very annoying when shifting quicker.

Has anyone been able to get rid of these gimmicks? People say great pedal response after tuning, but I feel like this initial dead space is never discussed and not sure if the throttle bump is possible to turn off.

Never tested how sensitive mine was/wasn't with Ecutek, but the jump from stock already did enough. Personally, I'm finding that some less-than-perfect take offs ends up putting the throttle in a stupid loop thinking the car is losing traction. The issue weirdly comes about somewhere between aggressive take-offs and careful ones.

I was curious about the RPM bump issue as well, to see if any tuner addressed this specifically. I know turning off SRM helps, but then the obvious luxury goes away.

Regarding the SRM, even with mine being OFF I still experience the same Bump as with it being ON

BUMP! Looking to get a tune to get rid of the dead spot you are talking of.... curious to know if anyone is experiencing the same things? OP do you have an oil cooler? I usually experience this dead spot when my temps hit around 200+.

Maybe your pedal is worn or sloppy. My ecutek tune is highly precise. The throttle bump i believe has a little more to do with the vvel system then the actual throttle mapping. But I'll let a tuner comment on that.

I think your idle rpm may have a big role in this, if tuner can get it to idle lower then pedal should respond quicker, at least what i've noticed between tunes (uprev). Pedal has a direct relationship to rpm so if you're idling at 1100 then you'll need to press the pedal a bit for it to increase rpms.

Pedal is not worn or sloppy. Nothing to do with oil temps. As I posted, it registers the pedal travel, just doesn't activate the throttle valve until I hit a certain threshold in voltage.

This voltage threshold has been identical between uprev and ecutek and two different reputable tuners and different throttle maps.

Don't think it has to do with idle as I can feel this while driving too when shifting between gears. My foot is very sensitive as I have an NA Miata which if even a hair touches the throttle the engine responds.

IINM, Sprintbooster will boost that voltage to fool the ECU into thinking the gas pedal is pushed further than it actually is. At least a few people have stated they like the pedal response it gives even after they've gotten a tune.

I have not had the problem you are describing. The throttle response is just like a direct cable. Matter of fact the throttle reacts so fast that it is sometimes awkward in parking lots when you are crawling along.

That has been my experience as well, especially with Ecutek. Throttle response is so instantaneously I practically need to yank my foot off the clutch so it doesn't ride at all.

I can take a look later on at some logs and see if I have any corresponding data to compare.

I've never looked but are there switches on the skinny pedal like the clutch pedal has? Perhaps there is some adjustment on it. Since it is happening on both types of software there issue clearly isn't unique to one of them so has to be something to do with the car itself rather than the tune.

It could be a bad throttle pedal position sensor but there are two of them so that you don't have a single point failure. Something could be out of adjustment that would effect both sensors.

I'm assuming you're on ecutek now?

If you were still on Uprev, I'd suggest turning off the ETC JUST to see if the response is different. With ETC off, it's a 1:1 ratio.

OP, are you running a MAF tune or a Speed Density tune?
