How to get my "Catalytic Converter Efficency" Ready?
My current tune with Uprev has my "Catalytic Converter Efficiency" as not supported. Can someone please help me out and show me how to turn it on so it can be ready and so I can pass emissions? Is there even a way for me to turn that monitor on in Uprev?
Thanks |
hmmm. A web search for 'Uprev "Catalytic Converter Efficiency"' only turns up this thread and searching the Uprev site for 'Catalytic Converter Efficiency' returns zero results. Subbed to see if someone comes up with an answer.

If you have uprev standard cable, call your tuner to send you a updated tune with all monitors turned on. Then flash it onto your ecu. Once passed inspection you can flash your original tune back. To turn on and off the monitors, you would need osiris tuner version with unlocked tune. I would imagine that most of custom tunes are locked by the tuner so you don't mess with it.

With the standard cable you need a tuner to make the change. If you have the full tuner cable then you can just open with ROM Editor and edit your tune. You then navigate around till you see Catalytic Efficiency, not the exact term used in the editor but close, and click it to turn it on. There will be two to turn on. Now my OBDII scanner reads it and I just have to drive till it is ready. My car is boosted with no cats. I can still pass emissions here in Chicago but I just need all the monitors they look for to be ready to take it in. The trick is to get it in right after resetting the ECU and driving it till all monitors are ready before any codes pop. |

I have to take my car in for testing too. :shakes head: |

I don't know how Canada does inspections but if they do visuals then you will fail with the BP kit. Here in Chicago, they only look for three monitors to be ready. Catalytic efficiency, EVAP and O2 Sensor. Once all three is ready with no codes, you can take the car in and it will pass. |

His initial thoughts is that it looks good. I don't have that kind of luck. I am sure I'll have several hoops that I need to jump through for it to pass. |

If your test in canada is anything like ours. They will want your Catalytic efficiency at least turned on. I may be wrong about it being ready, it may not even need to be ready, just turned on. If the cat efficiency is turned on and your EVAP and O2S are good with no codes you may pass. My OBDII scanner said I would pass with the Cat efficiency turned off but it would get rejected at the actual test site. I wish I remember what I did 2 years ago when I passed. All I remember was I had EVAP and O2S ready and passed. I just don't remember if the cat efficiency had to be ready or not. I am thinking that without the cats it's probably impossible to get it ready. Base on your scanner, it looks like your cat efficiency is turned off. How many times do you get to test before they force you to see a mechanic? |

This is what I had when I passed with the BP kit 2 years ago. Sent from my SM-G935T using Tapatalk |

So you didn't throw a code when you have the CAT Efficiency turned on? I wonder if I should contact Vince and get a map with it turned on. I'll keep you posted. |
