Z1 400HP kit and Ecutek tune at Jtran results!

1 Attachment(s)
CAR: 2011 370Z NISMO, 33K miles - stock

Installed the Z1 Motorsports 400HP kit, ported upper and lower, CAI kit, headers which I ceramic coated, cat delete pipes with a stock NISMO exhaust

Johnny at Jtran here in Houston did the tune. Unfortunately I didn't have a basline dyno pull prior to the mods. He was very surprised when the car pulled a 322 HP run before tuning. finished at 328 HP. Car throttle response is amazing now, it's a whole different car and pulls hard right to redline.

Dyno sheet is attached. Curve is very smooth and linear.

Nice. Did you install everything yourself? How was it?

Btalont 05-06-2016 01:32 PM

install

Yes..I did the install, the intake manifolds were very easy surprisingly. The headers were hard, especially the left (drivers) side. I had to cut the heat shield in pieces to get it out to get to the bolts. That was a tough install. CAI and the rest were pretty simple and fitment for all of it was spot on, credits to Z1. Their headers are first class.

Nice numbers. You should easily be over 330whp with an aftermarket cat-back.

What's your torque?

A 328 whp output from a claimed 400 chp kit is good. That's around an 18% loss of power through the drivetrain. I wonder how much more you'd make if you ran F1 LTHs.

Elmo370z 05-08-2016 01:10 AM

I think we only lose around 15%. From the factory non nismo make 332 chp and dyno typically 276-280whp. Z1's car made around 340whp. Still not bad gains.

Wouldn't make too much more power, he would make the same power earlier in the rev band same with TQ. He makes 300whp mid 6k rpms. lth and exhaust he probably would make 300whp somewhere in the mid 5k rpms. I have a dyno sheet comparing my run with another forum member.

Agreed there is probably another 7-11 HP with an aftermarket exhaust. I kept the NISMO exhaust for the lower sound. Sounds good but without droning or being obtrusive at cruise.

Do you have an automatic or a manual? Since the drivetrain loss is 15% shouldn't you be closer to 340whp instead like they claim?

Sounds really good...I have similar nbrs with Uprev tune and the 400hp kit. My car now feels so alive, I love it! After market exhaustshould get you even better numbers. Z1 400hp kit was money well spent for me as turbo or sc is not an option. Congrats!

I hate threads like this... Only because I have power adders either in the mail on their way to me or already here waiting to be installed. :icon14:

Patience? What's that? LOL

The intake came in yesterday, the EcuTek came in today. I got home, read the instructions (eek!!! ), downloaded the software, updated drivers, etc, etc, went out to the car with laptop in hand, got the reading off of the ECU and emailed it to Seb about 40 minutes ago.

On a side note, I think the ECU has finally adjusted completely for the HKS exhaust. Driving the Z today, even in the dead heat of the afternoon, the throttle and acceleration is just effortless. In comparison, the car felt like it was being held back before. Now, it just wants to go, it's eager, lively and, well... Effortless.

If the exhaust alone is capable of this type of change in drivablilty, I'm really going to be in for a surprise once the intake, ART pipes and tune is on there. The rate things are going, the tune is going to be on probably within a day or two. I won't be able to get around to doing the intake until maybe next Wednesday if I'm lucky. There's no telling when I'm going to be able to get the ART pipes on, especially with those damn demon bolts giving me hell.
