My experience was good. They're nice guys and obviously know how to tune with UpRev really well. You can watch the action in the bay with them or watch from the waiting room which has a big window right there by the dyno. There's a big flat screen tv inside too that is hooked up to their dyno computer so you can see all the dyno graphs as they happen.

I'm sure it's tempting to get tuned there since you're in Austin, but you might want to look into EcuTek as well. It has some cool features that UpRev doesn't have. I would have gone with them if I hadn't already bought the UpRev license years ago.

Yeah, I was considering EcuTek, but I'm NA, only got a few mods, and it's my DD. For my application, I probably won't see much difference between the two. And I'm tempted to go UpRev since they're just right down the street.

Thanks for sharing your experience.

I had my SuperCharged Auto Z tuned there some time ago. Mike and Omar were very helpful.

Yea, for our AT N/A, Uprev is better and will save some money. From what I heard Manual, Boosted will get a better overall outcome from EcuTek

How is it better for an AT? The way ecutek controls timing is noticeably better regardless of what type of transmission is attached to the motor? Not to mention true vvel control, etc.

I just went ecutek and I'm 7at. I think you get more from a ecutek as a 7at guy. With 7at you don't get launch with either, don't get flat foot shifting with either (that shouldn't be surprising), but ecutek does give you adjustable traction control, so for the same money you get and = or better tune (the tuners really seem to like ecutek timing control) and you get a new feature that you as a 7at guy can actually use. Also not sure about uprev software but ecutek can pull dtc from any module on the car, can do tpms reset, and steering and reset also throttle learn.

So far liking mine.

UPREV can do all of the DTC functions. If you care to share, post your stock VVEL and tuned VVEL results.

As far as I am concerned ECUTEK and UPREV are even at best. ECUTEK had simpler timing control via a simplified map system and UPREV has real-time tuning. All of the other features offered by both companies are either working for the most part or experimental/limited (for testing). I don't see the big woop?

I know that other tuners call Omar in the Austin Uprev shop for his expertise. I've spoken to him a few times, and he's been nothing but helpful and polite.

The Uprev vs Ecutek debate is for another thread.

I've got an appointment set up with them for next week. Tuning and dyno time. I'll post the results afterwards. Mods are post MAF tubes, dry filter drop-ins, berk HFC's, and Fast Intentions non-res.

Keep in mind that UpRev's dynojet does read bit lower than Z1's dynojet. Also, Omar tunes in 4th gear unless you specifically ask him to do a pull in 5th gear. So don't be discouraged if numbers are lower than you were expecting

A/T also benefits more with ecutek because they have real throttle control so your transmission can be properly tuned. Uprev does not have real throttle control and the trans had to be tricked into working the right way.

I wasn't very impressed with JMS

Mostly regarding their attitude towards their customers. Try asking a lot of questions or walking around their shop and you'll see what I mean.

So here's how it went. Took the Z to UpRev this past week. My installed mods include post MAF tubes, dry filter drop-ins, Berk HFC's, and Fast Intentions exhaust.

My baseline was 295. (I didn't ever get a stock reading.) After the software install and tune, I'm at 300. They were surprised by the fact that I was actually running rich with the mods and no tune. My throttle lag is completely gone, and my shifts feel like they are 'biting' harder than before. Not sure how else to describe it except that transmission doesn't feel as lazy anymore.

Everyone at UpRev was great. They spent a lot of time getting my tune just right. They did between 10-15 pulls, and gave it plenty of time to cool off between runs since the temp was 100+ outside. They even gave me a ride in their shop Z to demonstrate launch control. Gauge hijacking is in the works as well.

Overall, I'm a highly satisfied customer.
