Default Is tuning a must?

Hello, I have a quick question. I was debating on getting the CBE by Invidia, but my question is since I have CAI and HFC will I need a tune right away after the install or will it not hurt it to drive around without a tune for a while? I know air to fuel will be all off.

If you put 3 breather mods you will need a tune, you can have up to 2 breather mods and be fine.

Yeah my question is would it really hurt the car to drive it around without a tune for a while?

There are several threads on this topic, but, in a nutshell, you should be OK. Just don't be holding the pedal to the floor.

It won't be too bad with HFC's. Best way to check is get a dyno and the AFR's read. If you're over just over 13, I wouldnt wait too long. Over 13.5, I wouldnt dare drive. If you're currently high 11's, low 12's, you should be okay with an exhaust upgrade. This is just my opinion, I'm no expert

No, you don't need a tune.

But if you to optimize and gain good power, get a tune.

When I ran 3 breathing mods I was running moderately lean.....but not too lean that it would hurt my engine. It's useless getting all these mods if ur not going to maximize them....that's something only a tune can achieve.

I'm going to eventually tune it. The thing is I live in South Dakota so I'm going to need to either travel to get it tuned or get it ECUTEK tuned. So it's going to take some time to get that done. I'm going to get it dynoed after though.

My car was running fine with fast intentions cat back, test pipes, and stillen gen 3. It wasn't till the manifold was ported out that the car started running too lean. You'll be fine.

If ur gonna dyno I recommend doing a dyno before the tune and one during the tune. That way u can see the difference that the tune makes....

tune is not required its up to you if you wanna pay >$500 upfront for very small gains but increased throttle response. the ecu does a pretty good job of compensating

Small peak gains, sure. There's more power under the curve, as well as the throttle response you mentioned. Not to mention the cooler temps from adjusting the fan tables. It's well worth the money once you're done with bolt ons.
