Ecutek/e85

I'm lookin to switch to E85 in the next few months, so I've been doing as much research on the matter as I can....

I've decided to go w/ Ecutek for tuning, and from what I understand, there needs to be an ethanol sensor spliced into the MAF signal somewhere; Usual place of preference for mounting is near the fuel tank. Can anyone expound on this and give more details/facts on the matter?

Thanks!

Research the forum by way of post and threads. It has been discussed.

from what i know is, you need bigger injectors (stock GTR injectors) and a tune. i was not aware that you need any ethanol sensors.

JFonz 12-14-2015 08:03 AM

You can add the ethanol sensor for extra safety or you can run e85 without the sensor, and the correct tune. There is always more than one way to skin a cat.

Lt8Che 12-14-2015 10:43 AM

Bigger injectors and possibly a bigger fuel pump. Follow that up with a proper tune.

TerribleONE 12-14-2015 10:46 AM

Believe the sensor is if you want to run flex fuel.

Are you boosted? If not do you plan on boosting your car in the future?

injectors should be stainless steel to prevent rusting down the road as well as the fuel pump and recommend those ptf thingy lines. You don't need it to run 85, but that just my 2 cents

Yeah, I'm developing a grocery list of what I need to get/do. Shooting for 700 range to the ground on forged internals...avoiding sleeves.

The reason why is because I'm looking at the cjm fuel return kit, and found a hook up on ecutek hardware/license/tune. But to make e85 work properly on the tune, I was wondering what flex fuel sensor to use/ what system, but I think I found my solution. Zeitronix kit, has the readout w/ in line sensor you can tap into @ the fuel pressure regulator with multiple ports. I think for the time being, I'm gonna go with gtr or 600cc, whichever I get my hands on first.

And to clarify, I'm not exclusively switching to e85, but rather going flex fuel.

well, if anyone's interested, i found a damn good deal on Ecutek tuning. pm me if you want details

wideglideleon 12-17-2015 12:31 PM

I wonder if anyone on the Forum has had this company tune their Z.
If so what were their opinion of the customer service and the tune!

hooey_b 12-17-2015 12:36 PM

i don't want to throw their name out there just yet, not without actually trying it out. haven't seen their name in any threads yet...at all.

I'd rather not have the flak that would come back @ me if they turn out to NOT be what they said. I have no problem giving out the name via pm, but it's at your own risk, as I haven't jumped the gun and purchased it from them yet...I just got excited because of how good the deal is.

it may be a while, but when i do get it, i'll post a thread on service and support, since we all know that ecutek is the ishhhh.

jwick 12-17-2015 01:09 PM

You don't have to have the sensor unless you want to run flexfuel.

Visconti can set you up with the sensor as he has a package for it.

TerribleONE 12-17-2015 01:21 PM

Fast Intentions can as well just don't think they have released any official info on it yet.

I believe that. Tony doesn't like any of his business to be held up by other suppliers if he can produce his own solution.

StillenZ84 12-17-2015 02:01 PM

My advice is to find someone else besides Visconti

hooey_b 12-17-2015 04:59 PM

I've already solved my ethanol fuel sensor problem...zeitronix ethanol sensor kit, all inclusive w/ what I need.

And find someone other than Visconti? I haven't heard anything contrary to supporting his work and what he's done....not being biased, but curious

hooey_b 12-17-2015 05:03 PM

Btw, I got in contact with that tuner. pricing is more than i originally thought (because slight dyslexia), but still considerably cheaper than most...

you must have missed more than a couple of threads calling him out then lol

hooey_b 01-15-2016 09:40 PM

Got a deal for some 1200cc FIC injectors and an Aeromotive 450lph. Going with uprev for the time being, since 08 isn't supported

PongSanity 01-20-2016 06:59 AM

Talk about over compensation on the fuel system... Could only the low duty cycle those will run all motor...

Have you tried Seb for the tune?
