another Uprev to Ecutek review
Got my car Ecutek tuned by Seb at Specialty Z today (the best place to go if you're in socal). I gotta say, despite others' reviews I wasn't expecting too much, but I am pleasantly surprised. My car was already Uprev tuned also by Seb and gained 11 whp and 11wtrq peak with Ecutek. This was based offf of abaseline pull I did with the old tune right before the new one so it's same day/dyno etc. The gains were throughout with as much as 15 hp/trq at just over 5.5k rpm. So that was already more than I expected (thoguht I'd get like 5hp/trq) Seb demonstrated the adjustable traction control which was very cool as well. Now I can spin the tires a bit or be more aggressive without VDC shutting me down. The biggest thing I was looking for was the improved throttle response people tlak about and it really is night and day. The car jumps off the line now instead of that lag everyone knows this car has. The car is a lot more lively and fun to drive now. Making the switch form Uprev to Ecutek was well worth it.

Any chance of posting the dyno?

first thing I noticed was throttle response aswell! night and day

Also I thought the traction control feature was for 6MT only. Is this new for Ecutek?

Nice man! I knew you'd make more.. Just like I did !
They really need to add launch control to the auto!!! PLEASE SOMEONE, I'll test it!! |
Dyno was reading low that day, how knows why, could be various conditions or could have a crappy tank of gas. We did a 4th gear run for baseline with the old Uprev tune on the car. Then we replaced that with Ecutek and retuned and got 11 more hp and trq than the baseline. Also, the dyno was correcting 2% lower today than last time. We did a 5th gear pull but like I said, conditions were bad that day and we didn't have a 5th gear baseline to compare with. The gains in the 4th gear pull should translate pretty similarly to 5th gear. Regardless, the butt dyno says the car is much more peppy and fun to drive now regardless of what the hp gains were.

^there was another member (chuckie?) who also was retuned with Ecutek at SZ with similar mods only netted 300 whp. I think he said the 4.08 gears were the culprit.

My last time on that dyno when I did the uprev tune, I also had the 4.08s on already. I had brand new tires this time with less than 100 mile son them. I am not sure if that (tires not broken in maybe accounting for less traction) affected the numbers or not. f I decide to get sme lightweight rotors, I might try another dyno run just to see if those affect anything.

Just to chime in here i was recently ecutek tuned at SZ and it read 308whp/257tq. I think it's just the way his dyno reads

Can any tuner take my up-rev and convert it to ECUTEK?
