i think he said his tuner wasn't able to get it above 28* not that 28* was a limit for uprev.

Let me say this about the whole uprev vs. ecutek thing.

Uprev was the only real tuning solution for performance. Ecutek then released their software with their new features. I was on board with this....considering I had a maxed out uprev tune of 331whp and 270tq (stillen g3, Stillen UD pulley, Z1 upper manifold, FI LTH, and FI non res exhaust). Keep in mind, this is one of the top uprev tuners that was tuning my car (located in Washington state). But I was curious to see what ecutek could do. Could I hit 340? Was more Tq in the cards?

Another local shop with a master ecutek tuner got the software. Things were looking promising. Several guys I know had their car tuned with the ecutek software ( I wanted to wait and see). Their NA mods should have resulted high 310's to low 320's with uprev ( I at one point had similar mods making 318whp). They were still under these numbers with ecutek, bc the tuner doesn't know the platform well enough.

I was simply turned off from ecutek due to a lack of the tuner putting out. Not so much the software. I'd rather have a better performing car with outdated software from a tuner that knows what he is doing. Even if the old software can't really get into the VVEL. If we had a better tuner that knew the platform, things may be different. I still make 320/270 on my new nismo with uprev (stillen g3, Z1 mani, Berk Test pipes, Fi non res exhaust, 4.08 FD).

You can't really compare 2 cars like that, it's only a "rough" idea, not a very scientific comparison -- and every dyno will read different as well.

That aside, if you ever want to make a road trip I can probably help you (and your friends) out.

ignition timing of uprev on 370z has mind of its own.. I think it is due to some sort of knock listening or safety related limit somewhere which uprev has not figured out yet.

on my car i was able to get it up to 30 or 31deg up top I think, its been a while so I cannot remember but the car had no sign of detonation but i was not able to advance the timing any further, especially in the mid rev range where the ignition timing was considerably less aggressive. If ecutek has ability to control the timing better and actually able to make the timing advance to a point where you can hear the detonation, i would not be surprised to see at least 10~15hp gain throughout the band.

give you a tip for uprev guys.. if you want to tune an NA 370Z engine, just put crazy amount of timing advance (burn time table), it will only run up to where it allows and that is all you will get. no need to spend hours on dyno hoping to leech more out by fine tuning it.. until uprev figures out how to advance to a point where it will knock.

ecutek seems pretty promising and seems to get more popular.. i dont think we have a tuner in nz, and ecutek wont let users touch their ecu's, only by paid tuners, this is the only reason why i am still with uprev

So any more updates coming down the grapevine on UpRev or ECUTek that'll help us out at all? Ideally cam tuning? I would love a ghost cam style G or Z... One day.

Subs... lol tuning in the next year or so. So I'll see where this thread goes before i choose. I'm a little confused does ecutek do e tunes and data logging like uprev does? Living in Ontario is nice to have an e tune option... tuners aren't plentiful

ECUTEK does and IMO is much better. I had both. I suggest ECUTEK and Seb@ Specialty Z for a Eune, his tunes are on the $$

Ecutek e-tune with Seb has been light years better than dyno tuning with uprev.

Good to know been looking around at both. And couldn't seem to find a definitive answer on the e tunes. But I'm really leaning towards ecutek. Hopefully sooner rather then later
