Anyone tuned with Portland Speed Industries(PSI) ?

Hey guys, I was wondering if anyone has tuned their car with PSI? I did tune mine 2 months ago, but I'm starting to have doubts that they actually tuned it to the 302whp they claimed... Thanks.

Why are you doubting it?

A friend of mine has 370z 2012. He went to PSI and by the time he came back, his ecu was reset back to stock. Also I raced a stock 350(intake and straight pipe only) and we were pulling the same. If I really had 302 whp, I should've beaten him by far. I'm going to pay 100$ for dyno and see what happens.

I have heard bad things about PSI

cdumitru78 06-05-2015 11:33 PM

Subbed, they are very close to my house, always wondered if they do good work on our cars. I seem to remember the owner had a 370z at one point in time.

Got it on Dynojet today, 280 whp on 4th gear.

I don't know if it's nice. I'm pretty sure on 5th gear it will be around 287whp which again isn't close to 302 whp.

p.s. Isn't 5th gear supposed to be 6 speed cars' 1:1 ratio?

370Z JT 06-07-2015 12:07 PM

What mods do you have?

I currently have stillen gen 3 cold air intakes, mishimoto oil cooler, test pipes(I don't know what kind - previous owner), TOMEI EX Ti exhaust(which at the time when I tuned my car at PSI, I didn't have), and some other minor cosmetic parts. Seems like these mods have 0 impact on my whp and I'm driving pretty much stock 370z. :shakes head:

visconti 06-07-2015 12:24 PM

On a dynojet 4th gear will read more than 3rd gear, and 5th gear will read more than 4th gear ect etc.

I always run the cars in 4th gear.. 5th gear is waaay too long on the manual cars

Oh, I see.
On a side note: Is supercharger my only option to increase the whp on this car or what? - Yes, long tube headers is another 15 whp perhaps.

What kind of power increase are you after?

Well, graduate power increase would be the best, so I don't get used to it if you know what I mean. I thought I can hit 330ish whp by the end of this year, but now I'm doubting that.

COBB doesn't support this platform anymore and I know Tim is super busy (because I talk to him).. I doubt very much he would tune him

John

Seems low to me! With those mods you should be close to the 305/10 range on Uprev that is.:tiphat:

He tuned my G with uprev before I left for Hawaii. This was a long time ago. I will be moving back to Portland soon and ask him if he will be willing to try the new stuff..

Low is the right word. And yes it's with uprev I paid 725$ no cable. I'll have to re-tune it locally...

maybe its the dyno...Need to see what other Zs are putting down on the dyno to compare.

I don't know what to tell you man... I'm really dissapointed.

370Z JT 06-08-2015 01:07 AM

So 2 months ago you went to PSI and put down 302WHP after Uprev. Then you went back on the same dyno yesterday and put down 280WHP?

cranzy 06-08-2015 01:46 AM

PSI Dyno Jet - March 2015, when I had stock exhaust. http://imageshack.com/a/img911/4829/HvYebD.jpg

8-Velocity Dyno Jet - June 2015, with TOMEI EX Ti exhaust.

I think PSI ran it with 5th gear and my local shop ran the dyno on 4th gear. But even with 5th gear I would've gotten 285-287whp tops.

370Z JT 06-08-2015 02:14 AM

You should have done some pulls on the stock map at Velocity to see if there were any gains with the tuned map.

Hmm.. I am not sure what you mean by stock map. PSI put 3 maps: #1 the everyday one, which I use all the time #2 valley one, 3.5k RPM 40 miles one and #3 Racing one. I thought the racing one has only launch control over #1 or are you saying that it might boost the whp?

P.s. I ran the velocity dyno with map #1.

370Z JT 06-08-2015 10:51 AM

I got 5 maps. 1 of them is the factory tune.

Interesting. I have 3 maps. I might call PSI today and ask them for details about the maps.

Japanjay 06-09-2015 10:42 PM

Probably on the eco map.
